Annual shoot growth components related to growth of Pinus brutia
Tree Physiology, 2002Shoot elongation patterns of Pinus brutia Ten. were studied in six natural populations and 10 open-pollinated families within each population. The data were collected from a provenance-progeny trial that was thinned at Ages 13 and 17 years. Annual height increment was partitioned into first flush (spring shoot) and subsequent flushes (summer shoots ...

Composition of gum turpentines of pinus halepensis and pinus brutia grown in greece
Journal of Chromatography A, 1964Abstract Separate samples of gum turpentine Pinus halepensis and Pinus brutia grown in Greece were analysed by gas-liquid partition chromatography using two stationary phases of different polarity. It was found that the turpentine of Pinus halepensis consisted mainly of d-α-pinene (about 96%), while that of Pinus brutia contained less d-α-pinene ...

Adaptation of herbaceous plant species in the understorey of Pinus brutia
Agroforestry Systems, 2005Most of Pinus brutia (Ten.) Holmboe forests are grazed, as silvopastoralism is well adapted in the Mediterranean environment. However, little attention has been paid to the demographic dynamic of the understorey vegetation even though it is strongly affected by the absorbed radiation.

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, 1997
A chemosystematic study based on needle flavonoids, was carried out on 324 trees from six populations of Pinus halepensis, six of Pinus brutia and one of Pinus eldarica. Two main flavonoid classes were identified and measured by HPLC: (pro)anthocyanins and flavonols.
