Wildfire effects on forest structure of Pinus merkusii in Sumatra, Indonesia

open access: yesForest Ecology and Management, 2020
Pinus merkusii (Jungh. & de Vriese), the only pine species native to Indonesia, is threatened by land-use change, resource extraction, and fire. P. merkusii forests in Sumatra are subject to mixed-severity wildfires that can change forest structure over time.

Evolutionary radiation of the Eurasian Pinus species under pervasive gene flow

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 242, Issue 5, Page 2353-2368, June 2024.
Summary Evolutionary radiation, a pivotal aspect of macroevolution, offers valuable insights into evolutionary processes. The genus Pinus is the largest genus in conifers with c. 90% of the extant species emerged in the Miocene, which signifies a case of rapid diversification. Despite this remarkable history, our understanding of the mechanisms driving

Effect of collection period on oleoresin yield of Pinus merkusii

open access: yesForestry Research and Engineering: International Journal
Pinus merkusii is one of the most important timber species in Indonesia, the main product of which is its oleoresin. The objective of this study was to examine the effects of collection period (three periods, with 6-day observation each) on oleoresin yield in relation to two factors: growth sites of Pinus merkusii, which in the case of this study were ...
