Valence-quark distribution functions in the kaon and pion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We describe expressions for pion and kaon dressed-quark distribution functions that incorporate contributions from gluons which bind quarks into these mesons and hence overcome a flaw of the commonly used handbag approximation.

Proton First: Rationalizing a Proton Transfer in a Protein‐Fragment Complex

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 20, Issue 20, October 15, 2025.
We combine experimental and theoretical approaches to investigate benzoic acid binding to Protein Kinase A. The crystal structure shows benzoic acid protonated in the complex. Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) fails to detect binding, likely due to low affinity.

Evaluation of the two lightest quark masses

open access: yesЯдерна фізика та енергетика, 2017
Simple relations between the masses of the two lightest up and down quarks were obtained on the basis of the simple physically based model compatible with the present-day theory of strong interactions, i.e. with quantum chromodynamics.

Pion transverse-momentum spectrum and elliptic anisotropy of partially coherent source

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2018
In this letter, we study the pion momentum distribution of a coherent source and investigate the influences of coherent emission on the pion transverse-momentum (pT) spectrum and elliptic anisotropy.

Pion-less effective field theory for atomic nuclei and lattice nuclei [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review C, 2017
We compute the medium-mass nuclei 16O and 40Ca using pion-less effective field theory (EFT) at next-to-leading order (NLO). The low-energy coefficients of the EFT Hamiltonian are adjusted to experimental data for nuclei with mass numbers A=2 and 3, or ...

Pion-Nucleon Scattering and Pion-Pion Interaction [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical Physics, 1962
Applying Cini-Fubini approximation to the Mandelstam representation for pion-nucleon scattering amplitude, we treat explicitly the effect of pion-pion interaction to be added to the dispersion relation given by Chew, Goldberger, Low and Nambu. On account of scanty information on the contribution to tl:e dispersion .integral from high-mass states, we ...

Initial three‐ and half‐year machine performance assessment of a superficial radiation therapy unit

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 26, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract Purpose This work reports on results of periodic machine quality assurance (QA) tests for our superficial radiation therapy (SRT) unit (SRT‐100 Vision) performed for the first three‐ and half‐ year. Methods Results of machine warm‐up, dosimetry, mechanical, safety and imaging QA tests for our SRT‐100 Vision unit were reviewed and analyzed ...

Scrutinizing the pion condensed phase [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal A, 2016
When the isospin chemical potential exceeds the pion mass, charged pions condense in the zero-momentum state forming a superfluid. Chiral perturbation theory provides a very powerful tool for studying this phase.

Gravitons and pions [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal A, 2020
Both gravitons and pions are described by non-linear and non-renormalizable actions at low energies. These are most usefully treated by effective field theory, which is a full quantum field theoretic approach that relies only on the low energy degrees of freedom and their interactions.

Auditory and Semantic Processing of Speech‐in‐Noise in Autism: A Behavioral and EEG Study

open access: yesAutism Research, Volume 18, Issue 10, Page 2011-2030, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Autistic individuals often struggle to recognize speech in noisy environments, but the neural mechanisms behind these challenges remain unclear. Effective speech‐in‐noise (SiN) processing relies on auditory processing, which tracks target sounds amidst noise, and semantic processing, which further integrates relevant acoustic information to ...
