DFT computational analysis of piracetam
Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2014Density functional theory calculation with B3LYP using 6-31G(d,p) and 6-31++G(d,p) basis set have been used to determine ground state molecular geometries. The first order hyperpolarizability (β0) and related properties (β, α0 and Δα) of piracetam is calculated using B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) method on the finite-field approach.

Piracetam in chronic brain failure
Current Medical Research and Opinion, 1979A double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was carried out on 109 aged patients with minimal or with moderate chronic brain failure to assess the effectiveness of piracetam (2.4 g per day) in preventing the progression of dementia. Patients received piracetam or placebo each for 6 weeks, the order of treatment being at random.

Previous research has suggested that dyslexics treated with piracetam have shown improvements in reading skills, verbal memory and verbal conceptualizing ability, feature analysis, and processing of letter-like stimuli. Two hundred twenty-five dyslexic children between the ages of 7 years 6 months and 12 years 11 months whose reading skills were ...

Piracetam attenuates binge eating disorder related symptoms in rats
Pharmacology, Biochemistry and Behavior, 2018Binge eating disorder (BED) is a stress‐related disorder characterized by acute episodes of excessive food intake. Piracetam, a nootropic agent has been reported to show several other neuropharmacological properties.
