Fast, efficient piston correction of deployable space telescopes using machine learning [PDF]
Alignment of segmented telescopes is essential in creating an effective monolithic primary mirror. A fast, two-step piston sensing technique has been developed to enable diffraction-limited imaging.

In situ mapping of iron oxidation in laminar metal fuel flames using X‐ray absorption spectroscopy
For the first time an iron metal flame has been mapped by in situ X‐ray absorption spectroscopy. Strong gradients in oxidation state and phase composition across the metallic core and the flame front were found with FeO peaking at the visible flame front and Fe3O4 forming further beyond.Metal fuels such as iron are promising carbon‐free energy carriers

ABSTRACT Lake sediments are natural archives of past environmental dynamics and how these systems have responded to past climate variability. Sediment geochemistry, governed by local geology and climate processes, is unique to each lake‐catchment and geochemical proxies must be validated for each study site.

Enhancing piston-type fertilizer injection pump performance through check valve optimization
Piston-type injection pumps are critical components for fertilizer delivery in drip fertigation systems. The volumetric efficiency and metering accuracy of the pump, key determinants of fertilization uniformity, depend mainly on the structural parameters
