ESTIMATION OF STAPES PISTON MOTION WITH UNI-DIRECTIONAL MEASUREMENTS IS PRONE TO ERROR [PDF]
Abstract: In most experiments, access for direct measurement of stapes motion in line with the piston axis is not available and piston motion is estimated from single component interferometric measurements done under observation directions that make angles up to 60 degrees with the piston axis.

The piston error recognition technique used in the modified Shack–Hartmann sensor
Optics Communications, 2021Abstract Segmented telescopes and multi-aperture telescopes are effective ways to realize high-resolution observations in astronomy. An important work for the high-resolution observations with segmented telescopes and multi-aperture telescopes is phasing the multiple segmented mirrors or sub-apertures.

A piston error detection method of optical synthetic aperture system
Proceedings of SPIE, 2014The existence of phase error influences the imaging performance of optical synthetic aperture system and limits the resolution of the imaging system. The relationship between point spread function of binocular system and piston error is analyzed and the conclusion that the relation between point spread function and piston error is irrational with ...

The effects of piston error on image quality of synthetical aperture optical imaging system
Proceedings of SPIE, 2012The relationship between image quality and piston errors of synthetical aperture optical imaging system has been studied. An active segmented cophasing imaging system and its Zemax simulation model were set up. Diversity piston errors were introduced and the corresponding MTF were calculated with the Zemax simulation model.
