A Motion‐Sensing Integrated Soft Robot with Triboelectric Nanogenerator for Pipeline Inspection

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A soft robot integrated with triboelectric nanogenerator‐based tactile sensors is proposed to achieve locomotion within pipelines and exteroception of different materials and structures of pipeline inner surfaces. By introducing a 1D‐convolutional neural network algorithm, the soft robot's accuracy in recognizing eight different pipe inner surface ...

Analytical Modeling and Design of Fresnel Lens Transducers [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
In this paper, we present an analytical modeling technique for circularly symmetric piezoelectric transducers, also called as Fresnel Lens. We also present the design of a flat/piston transducer that can generate unique acoustic wave patterns, having both converging and vortexing effects.

Multifunctional Position and Stiffness Control of Soft Fluidic Actuators Using Supercooled Liquid

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work explores the use of supercooled liquid as a multifunctional working fluid for soft actuators to allow independent control of position and stiffness; the solution is used to both inflate the elastomer chambers while in liquid state and to achieve a dramatic increase in stiffness (up to 13 times) with rapid, reversible crystallization.

High-temperature gas/liquid stress relaxometers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Two relaxometers allow testing of elastomers in various fluids. First relaxometer uses fork-like loading spacer interposed between loading lever and support ring, so that sample is stretched predetermined amount.

Transition of a vortex ring measured by 3D scanning Tomo-PIV [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A vortex ring with piston-based Reynolds number Rep=4650 is studied experimentally by means of time-resolved scanning tomographic PIV. The present measurement technique provides the so-called 4D flow field, thus enables revealing the vortex ring’s ...
