Simulation and Rendering of Pitting Corrosion

Proceedings of the 2014 Indian Conference on Computer Vision Graphics and Image Processing, 2014
Simulation and rendering of material weathering is of great interest in computer graphics as it facilitates modeling of realistic objects in virtual scenes. We present a physio-chemically based methodology to model pitting corrosion. Our simulation has two components. The first models pit nucleation on the surface of the object.

Pitting Corrosion of Titanium

Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 1994
The breakdown of native and anodically grown oxide films on Ti electrodes is investigated by scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM), video microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and voltammetry. SECM is used to demonstrated that the oxidation of Br[sup [minus]] on Ti occurs at microscopic surface sites (10 to 50 [mu]m diam, 30 sites/cm[sup 2]

Characteristics of pitting corrosion in an existing reinforced concrete beam exposed to marine environment

, 2020
Pitting corrosion is a threat to structural durability, causing stress concentration and severe effects on bearing capacity. In this study, two types of corrosion pits were observed in an existing beam exposed to a marine environment for forty years: a ...

Influence of the individual microstructural features on pitting corrosion in type 304 austenitic stainless steel

Corrosion Science, 2019
The individual role of microstructural features viz. grain boundary character distribution (GBCD), grain size and residual strain on pitting corrosion is assessed in type 304 stainless steel employing potentiodynamic and potentiostatic polarization tests.

Effects of reduced surface grain structure and improved particle distribution on pitting corrosion of AA6063 aluminum alloy

, 2020
In this paper, the effects of equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) and age treatment on the evolution of surface grain structure and corrosion behavior of AA6063 were investigated. ECAP was conducted for up to 6 passes followed by aging treatment at 180

Pitting corrosion of Ni

Corrosion Science, 1971
Abstract Microscopic observations have been made in situ on the pitting corrosion of polycrystalline and single crystal Ni, at a passive potential, in 1N H2SO4 solution containing Cl−. Corrosion pits were observed to nucleate at scratches and grain boundaries.
