Hormonal Release by Dispersed Pituitary Cells
Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1972Dispersed anterior pituitary cells were prepared by treatment of hog pituitaries with collagenase. The cell yield based on DNA recovered in intact cells after collagenase treatment was 5–10%. Ninety percent of the cells appeared intact by phase contrast microscopy. The three major cell types were identifiable by Mallory-Heidenhain staining.

At concentrations from 10(-10) M to 10(-7) M the peptide stimulated GH release in a dose-dependent manner with the ED50 being 1.2 x 10(-9) M.
