PIXE and micro‐PIXE studies of exogenous element distributions in animal organs
X-Ray Spectrometry, 1991Abstract A pilot study was undertaken with aluminium and strontium in order to determine the path taken when they enter an organism. Rabbits received an intramuscular injection of A1, and thin tissue cryo‐sections and pelletized and incinerated samples were investigated by the PIXE method.

Pixe analysis of reproductive fluids
Biological Trace Element Research, 1987An external 3.8-MeV proton beam was employed to induce X-rays in 100-mg pellets of human follicular fluids and in 4-8 mg pellets of spermatozoa. The elements Cl, K, Ca, Fe, Cu, Zn, and Br were quantitatively determined in follicular fluids, whereas the elements, S, Cl, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, and Zn were determined in the spermatozoa.

Bio-PIXE AT THE TAKIZAWA FACILITY (Bio-PIXE WITH A BABY CYCLOTRON)
International Journal of PIXE, 1992For the developement of bio-PIXE, two problems remain to be solved; one in accelerator availability and the other in data analysis. To improve the former, a method of applying baby cyclotrons to PIXE has been developed. To solve the latter, the computer program SAPIX for x-ray spectrum analysis ,which runs on ordinary personal computers and is fairly ...

Applications of the remote operation of PIXE and Micro-PIXE measurements
2008Fast internet connections that are available today worldwide are opening new possibilities in the research and education using accelerator based analytical techniques. Our newly developed accelerator computer control and recent improvements in sample positioning and data acquisition systems enabled a long distance access to experiments performed at ...

PIXE analysis of byzantine ceramics
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1994Abstract PIXE analyses have been performed on byzantine and hellenistic ceramics excavated at Pergame (Turkey). As local production is attested, the study intends to propose a new referential among the few kiln sites which have been analyzed in the framework of economic and cultural exchanges in the byzantine world.

Apportionment of non-PIXE species by means of PIXE analysis
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1993Abstract Source apportionment for air pollution by means of receptor models are often used in connection with PIXE analysis. The origin of “non-PIXE” species is assessed mainly by using PIXE based models. Three case studies are discussed. 1) Soot is often used as general indicator for anthropogenic air pollution. The trend in the source contributions

PIXE and micro-PIXE analysis of minerals at Ep = 40 MeV
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1988Abstract Proton-induced X-ray emission (PIXE) analysis has been employed at the University of Manitoba Accelerator Centre in the analysis of apatite samples containing trace amounts of rare earth elements (REE). Detection limits of 5 ppm or better were readily achieved for elements such as La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy and Yb.
