Development of a clinical prediction rule to diagnose Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia in the World Health Organization’s algorithm for seriously ill HIV-infected patients

open access: yesSouthern African Journal of HIV Medicine, 2018
Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) algorithm for the diagnosis of tuberculosis in seriously ill HIV-infected patients recommends that treatment for Pneumocystis jiroveciipneumonia (PJP) should be considered without giving clear guidance on ...

Offline Reconstruction of Diffusion MRI Acquisitions for Comparison Between Complex PCA‐Based and AI‐Based Denoising

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 1, Page 435-447, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose Optimal diffusion MRI (dMRI) data for image denoising is often unavailable from scanner reconstruction. In this work, we make available an offline reconstruction pipeline for GE dMRI acquisitions, giving access to complex dMRI data. Furthermore, we compare the efficacy of GE HealthCare's AIR‐Recon DL (ARDL), a proprietary convolutional

Metagenomic next-generation sequencing promotes diagnosis and treatment of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia in non-HIV infected children: a retrospective study

open access: yesBMC Pulmonary Medicine
Background Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) excels in diagnosis of infection pathogens. We aimed to evaluate the performance of mNGS for the diagnosis of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP) in non-HIV infected children. Methods Totally 36

On Classical Teleportation and Classical Nonlocality

open access: yes, 2005
An interesting protocol for classical teleportation of an unknown classical state was recently suggested by Cohen, and by Gour and Meyer. In that protocol, Bob can sample from a probability distribution P that is given to Alice, even if Alice has ...

CPX‐351 in High‐Risk Relapsed Pediatric Acute Leukemia: Real‐World Phase 1 Data Establishing the FDA‐Approved Dose

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, Volume 73, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Outcomes for pediatric relapsed/refractory (R/R) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remain dismal. CPX‐351, a liposomal formulation of cytarabine and daunorubicin, may have less off‐target toxicities than traditional chemotherapies and has shown improved outcomes for adults with newly diagnosed therapy‐related AML.

Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia increases the 3-months mortality of anti-MDA5-antibody-positive dermatomyositis patients

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundAnti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 antibody-positive dermatomyositis (anti-MDA5+DM) patients are associated with considerable mortality, and opportunistic infections including Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP)is the main cause.

The Occurrence and Morphology of Naturally Occurring Respirable Mordenite Mineral Fibres in New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 2, June 2026.
Mordenite is a naturally occurring zeolite mineral that is the seventh most common zeolite mineral globally, forming at low temperatures (≥100°C) in hydrothermal systems. In New Zealand, extensive deposits of mordenite are commonly associated with areas of hydrothermal alteration, particularly in the Coromandel and Taupo Volcanic Zones.
