The influence of the raster angle on the dimensional accuracy of FDM-printed PLA, PETG, and ABS tensile specimens

open access: yesEuropean Mechanical Science
3D printing is a rapidly advancing method in digital manufacturing techniques and produces objects in layers. Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) is a 3D printing technology where the material is melted in a hot nozzle and then placed on a build platform to

Pere Vieta (1779–1856), promoter of free public teaching of physics in Catalonia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Free public teaching of physics in Catalonia started in the early 19th century, even if the interest in experimental physics goes back to the 18th century, where this discipline was discussed at various learned societies.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Influence of infill properties on flexural rigidity of 3D-printed structural members

open access: yesVirtual and Physical Prototyping, 2019
This paper characterises the flexural properties of relatively slender structural members (beams) manufactured using a FDM-based 3D printer. The primary goal is to assess the influence of infill properties on flexural rigidity through a parametric ...

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...
