Placental pathology of triploidy
Human Pathology, 1996Triploidy is a common chromosome abnormality in spontaneous abortions. Previous studies of spontaneous abortions have suggested that approximately 85% of triploid abortuses show the placental changes of partial hydatidiform mole (PHM) and that this appearance was associated, possibly attributable, to paternal origin of the extra haploid set of ...

Placental pathology in congenital rubella
Placenta, 1985Two groups of placentae from 18 cases of maternal rubella were examined morphologically and virologically. Placentae in Group I (four cases) had a mean gestational age of 21 +/- 1.9 weeks, whilst those in Group 2 (14 cases) had a mean gestational age of 38 +/- 2.8 weeks. A tendency to hypoplasia was observed.

Placental Pathology and the Developing Brain
Seminars in Pediatric Neurology, 2022Abnormal neurodevelopmental outcomes are associated with multiple factors including prematurity, intrauterine infection, maternal comorbidities as well as fetal anomalies. Placental pathologic features in obesity
Placenta, 2023Obesity in pregnancy is associated with adverse long-term consequences both in the mother and in offspring. The purpose of this study was to compare the major placental histological characteristics of non-diabetic ...

Placental pathology in women with HIV
Placenta, 2021Recognizing the importance of placental features and their unique functions can provide insight into maternal health, the uterine environment during the course of pregnancy, birth outcomes and neonatal health. In the context of HIV and antiretroviral therapy (ART), there have been great strides in the prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV ...
