These findings provide strong mechanistic evidence for VOCs mediating pest resistance and suggest that exposure to herbivore‐induced, plant‐derived VOCs can enhance pest resistance in potato crops. These results might offer novel information for developing ecologically sustainable plant volatile‐based strategies for boosting protection against pests in

Forest cover within cattle ranches can strongly shape faunal biodiversity. In Los Tuxtlas, Veracruz, Mexico. We show that butterflies, moths, dung beetles, and birds respond differently to forest cover across habitats (pastures vs. forest fragments) and seasons, as a function of their specialization and resource needs.

Our findings demonstrate that providing sugar sources reliably supports parasitoid populations and parasitism rate but does not systematically translate into improved pest suppression or yield gains. These results suggest that, for economic and practical reasons, sugar inputs at the edge of cultivated fields should be favoured.

El escaso conocimiento de la distribución temporal y espacial de las plagas y enfermedades de los cultivos, así como de sus enemigos naturales, ocasiona el uso inadecuado de plaguicidas, lo cual ha causado daños al ambiente y a la salud humana.

Our findings provide practical guidance for agroforestry management by demonstrating that intercropping with selected species can mitigate damage from leaf‐cutter ants in cacao agroforests. At the landscape scale, high tree cover was associated with low herbivory rates, emphasising the need to maintain or restore forested habitats.

Tree‐health policies must balance identifying likely entry points and deployment of traps, targeted information campaigns and surveillance subsidies for land managers. Our unique, cross‐disciplinary approach can be applied to other pest/pathogen systems to inform tree‐health plans and how to balance resources.

Application of a correction factor in the estimate of the trapping success of pest rodents
The effect of adding a correction factor in the formula used to estimate the trapping success of rodents, as well as the duration of the period of sampling (1, 2 or 3 days) and the effect of considering rodents captured as a single species or by ...

Abstract Agricultural landscapes hold great potential for biodiversity conservation; however, this will require finding solutions that work for both people and nature. Increasingly, the conservation community is calling for more cross‐disciplinary research integrating ecological questions with social and behavioural sciences for a more complete and ...
