Virtual Array Plane Wave Imaging
2021 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2021The Plane Wave Imaging (PWI) method, originally developed for medical images, was extended in various works for its use in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). In this field the most frequent scenario presents the difficulty of refraction at the surface of the test piece, which must be accounted for the calculation of focal laws.

Superharmonic and Microultrasound Imaging With Plane Wave Beamforming Techniques
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2023Superharmonic contrast imaging (SpHI) suppresses tissue clutter and allows high-contrast visualization of the vasculature. An array-based dual-frequency (DF) probe has been developed for SpHI, integrating a 21-MHz, 256-element microultrasound imaging array with a 2-MHz, 32-element array to take advantage of the broadband nonlinear responses from ...

Out-of-plane Doppler imaging based on ultrafast plane wave imaging
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2015Retrieving the out-of-plane blood flow velocity vector from two-dimensional transverse acquisitions of large vessels could improve the quantification of flow rate and maximum speed. The in-plane vector flow component can be computed easily using the Doppler frequency shift.

Image Correction for Transcranial Plane Wave Imaging
2019 14th Symposium on Piezoelectrcity, Acoustic Waves and Device Applications (SPAWDA), 2019In order to study the influence of skull on transcranial ultrasound imaging, we use linear acoustic equation and finite difference method to simulate the transcranial ultrasound field without skull and with skull respectively. The acoustic field is generated by a linear array with 64 elements and central frequency of 2.4MHz.

Double Adaptive Plane-wave Imaging
2016 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2016This paper describes a contribution to the Plane-wave Imaging Challenge in Medical UltraSound (PICMUS). The suggested beamformer uses Capon's Minimum Variance beamforming technique to create the low quality plane-wave images and the same Minimum Variance criteria when coherently compounding multiple low quality plane-wave images into one image of ...

Wave equivalent plane estimation for wave reconstruction in imaging through water waves
2017 IEEE International Conference on Real-time Computing and Robotics (RCAR), 2017Viewing an airborne scene from a totally submerged camera will suffer severe refractive distortions due to the water surface random fluctuation. One way to reduce this distortion is to use a wave sensor to image a known guide star, through which the water wave surface is measured and reconstructed. In the wave reconstruction, a wave equivalent plane is

In vivo out-of-plane Doppler imaging based on ultrafast plane wave imaging
2013 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2013Retrieving the blood flow velocity vector on 2D acquisitions transverse to the vessel could improve the quantification of flow rate in large vessels. The in plane component is easily computed using the Doppler frequency shift. The main problem is to retrieve the angle between the probe imaging plane and the vessel axis to compute the out of plane ...

Plane Wave Acoustic Superposition for fast ultrasound imaging
2016 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2016We introduce a novel method for ultrasound plane wave imaging that combines the plane wave decomposition of the incident pulse with the exact solution for the scattered field from small spherical scatterers. We model the measured RF-signal by a sparse linear system and formulate a corresponding discrete inverse problem, that can accommodate various ...

The formation of plane-wave X-ray images of microdefects
physica status solidi (a), 1985A theory of the formation of X-ray images of microdefects is developed. It is shown that at sufficiently high collimation of the incident wave it is possible not only to reveal such defects but also to obtain the images of their elastic fields almost without any additional diffraction within the Borrmann fan typical of the conventional topography.

Ultrafast plane wave imaging of breast lesions
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2023Ultrafast plane wave imaging has great potential for 3-D functional ultrasound imaging but also comes with decreased lateral resolution, contrast, and penetration depth with respect to conventional imaging (CI). By utilizing coherent plane-wave compound imaging (CPWCI) and different beam forming techniques (Delay and Sum (DAS), Stolt’s-fk, and Lu’s-fk),
