Planetary Motion, Sunspots and Climate
1979Past attempts to link sunspots with the gravitational attraction by planets or with the orbital motion of the Sun have not been successful. In this paper the changes in orbital angular momenta of planets due to gravitational perturbation are considered.

Nursing’s metaparadigm, climate change and planetary health
Nursing Inquiry, 2020AbstractThis paper offers a theoretical discussion on why the nursing profession has had a delayed response to the issue of climate change. We suggest this delay may have been influenced by the early days of nursing's professionalization. Specifically, we examine nursing's professional mandate, the generally accepted metaparadigm, and the grand ...

Climate change and the planetary trust
Energy Policy, 1992Abstract Three models for thinking about our responsibilities with respect to climate change are compared and evaluated. One is concerned with maximizing the present discounted value of consumption; the second views climate change through the lens of the tragedy of the commons. Both of these approaches are found to rest on implausible assumptions.

This clear and concise introduction to planetary climates explains the global physical and chemical processes that determine climate on any planet or major planetary satellite—from Mercury to Neptune and even large moons such as Saturn's Titan. The book presents a tour of our solar system's diverse planetary atmospheres, providing a rich foundation on ...

Planetary mass, vegetation height and climate
International Journal of Astrobiology, 2019AbstractThe maximum height trees can grow on Earth is around 122–130 m. The height is constrained by two factors: the availability of water, and where water is not limiting, the pressure available to drive the column of water along the xylem vessels against the pull of gravity (cohesion tension).

An Awareness of Climate Change as Planetary Citizens
2020The discussions on education for sustainable development and global citizenship in this book are based on broader themes that have a bearing on areas such as teaching about climate change. This chapter promotes an awareness of climate change as planetary citizens, which is one of the six themes for the practice of value-creating global citizenship ...
