Gearbox power loss. Part III: Application to a parallel axis and a planetary gearbox

Tribology International, 2015
Abstract In the third part of this work, the rolling bearing torque loss model, the lubricant factor extracted from the FZG tests with wind turbine gear oils and the loss factor for helical gears, developed in Part I and Part II of this work, will be applied to predict the power loss in a parallel axis and a planetary gearbox.

Optimization of planetary gearboxes

2017
This study investigates the effect of tooth profile modification on the vibrations of a single stage spur planetary gearbox. A lumped mass nonlinear dynamic model of the gearbox is used [1] to study the effect of tooth profile modifications applied on the sun-planet and ring-planet meshes on vibration behavior.

Unconventional Gear Profiles in Planetary Gearboxes

2023
The power loss of high ratio planetary gear trains (PGTs) is mainly constrained by the meshing efficiency of acting gears in each stage. Such gear wheels, predominantly with involute teeth profiles, work with a meshing efficiency of around 99%. When these gears are used in PGTs with reduction ratios of several hundred to one (500:1), despite their ...

Research on the Fault Diagnosis of Planetary Gearbox

2017
As a main transmission composition, planetary gearbox is widely used in wind turbine generation system. Due to the complicated working environment, sun gears, planet gear, ring gear and other key components are prone to failure. Therefore, the researches on the fault features of the planetary gearbox have significance to understand the operation of ...

Gearbox Planetary Bearing Cage Failure Analysis

Proceedings of the Vertical Flight Society 75th Annual Forum and Technology Display, 2019
There is a constant push within the rotorcraft community to increase performance while simultaneously reducing weight in all systems. For rolling element bearings, this translates to a demand for alternative materials with lower density and improved mechanical properties.

Recent Advances in Planetary Gearbox Fault Diagnosis

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
In order to guarantee the quality of remanufacturing planetary gearbox products, fault diagnosis and evaluation are the key links in the process of remanufacturing engineering. The faults will lead to cyclical impact, causing the transient response of periodic vibration signals, by studying the fault mechanism and using modern signal processing methods,

On the time synchronous average in planetary gearboxes

2013
Generally, in planetary gearbox diagnostics, transducers are placed on the gearbox case near the ring gear. The relative angular position of the planet gears with respect to the transducer is a pivotal information for the evaluation of vibration signals related to planet/sun gears.
