A simple model for the interaction of planetary and synoptic-scale waves in the troposphere [PDF]

open access: yes
The time-mean circulation of the troposphere during the Northern hemisphere winter is dominated by planetary-scale stationary waves superposed on longitudinal-mean westerly flow.

On the impossibility of solitary Rossby waves in meridionally unbounded domains

open access: yes, 2018
Evolution of weakly nonlinear and slowly varying Rossby waves in planetary atmospheres and oceans is considered within the quasi-geostrophic equation on unbounded domains.

Oxygen‐Driven Structural Reorganization by Trace Water Enabling Fast Li‐Ion Transport in a Pliable Solid Electrolyte

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Trace water is acting as a constructive mediator in 2LiCl–GaF3, markedly increasing ionic conductivity while reorganizing local coordination. Hydration creates localized Li+ solvation environments and partially dissociates ion pairs, enhancing Li‐ion mobility.

The Mechanism of Scale Selection for Mixed Rossby‐Gravity Waves in the Upper Troposphere and the Upper Stratosphere

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Mixed Rossby‐gravity (MRG) waves play a significant role in tropical variability. Their kinetic energy spectra exhibit maximal amplitudes at synoptic scales in the upper troposphere and at planetary scales in the upper stratosphere.

The correlation of VLF propagation variations with atmospheric planetary-scale waves [PDF]

open access: yes
Variations in the received daytime phase of long distance, cesium-controlled, VLF transmission were compared to the height variations of the 10-mb isobaric surface during the first three months of 1965 and 1969.

Aspects of Planetary Wave Transports in the Middle Atmosphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
The heat and momentum flux due to standing planetary waves in the stratosphere were calculated on the basis of satellite data. The convergence of these fluxes was investigated and shows an apparent heating and acceleration of the mean zonal state.

Disorder‐Driven Fast Na+ Transport: From Crystalline to Amorphous Networks in the Mixed‐Anion NaTaOxCl6−2x Oxychlorides

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Oxygen substitution in NaTaOxCl6‐2x drives structural evolution from isolated [TaCl6]– octahedra, through oxygen‐bridged [Ta2OCl10]2– dimers, toward extended trans‐[TaO2Cl4]3– chain‐like arrangements. At intermediate compositions, zero‐dimensional corner‐sharing motifs are proposed to create a flexible, disordered framework that peaks ionic ...

Charting the Path to Increased Oil Palm Output in Ghana Beyond Area Expansion: Technology or Managerial Capacity — Which Leads the Way?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study sets out to investigate the prospects for raising oil palm output in sub‐Saharan Africa, particularly Ghana, without further expansion of cropland. Given global concerns about oil palm's role in deforestation and land use change, the focus is on enhancing productivity on existing farmlands.

EMG‐Driven Telemetry and Inference System for Fish: Pose Reconstruction and Flow Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work introduces an electromyography (EMG)‐driven telemetry framework that reconstructs body pose and infers hydrodynamic conditions in freely swimming fish. A custom 16‐channel archival system records intramuscular EMG, enabling deep‐learning models to decode joint kinematics, classify flow regimes, and reveal channel‐efficient sensing strategies.

Evaluating the African arid corridor hypothesis: A meta‐analysis including the phylogenetic and biogeographical history of Sesamothamnus

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise We examined the African arid corridor (AAC) disjunction pattern of vascular plants between northeastern and southwestern Africa in the context of geological and climatic events since the late Miocene. We developed a phylogenetic and biogeographical framework for the arid‐adapted genus Sesamothamnus (Pedaliaceae), a classic example of ...
