EVOLUTION OF PLANT PARASITISM AMONG NEMATODES

Annual Review of Phytopathology, 2004
▪ Abstract  Despite extraordinary diversity of free-living species, a comparatively small fraction of nematodes are parasites of plants. These parasites represent at least three disparate clades in the nematode tree of life, as inferred from rRNA sequences.

Endosymbionts of Plant-Parasitic Nematodes

Annual Review of Phytopathology, 2018
Some of the most agriculturally important plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs) harbor endosymbionts. Extensive work in other systems has shown that endosymbionts can have major effects on host virulence and biology. This review highlights the discovery, development, and diversity of PPN endosymbionts, incorporating inferences from genomic data.

Biology of Plant-Parasitic Nematodes

The Journal of Parasitology, 1962
Areas for future research in culturing, nutrition, and physiology of parasitism of plantparasitic nematodes are discussed. Culturing nematodes monoxenically on plant tissue cultures has been successful with several species, but the ultimate aim is propagation on nonliving media.

Biological Control of Plant Parasitic Nematodes

1992
In biological control of plant diseases and nematodes in cropping system one could shift from the concept of direct control vs. the concept of management which is a complex procedure directed to reduce and maintain the numbers of pests/pathogens to noninjurious levels rather than to eradicate them.

Plant parasitic nematodes of potato.

2014
Abstract This chapter describes the current main nematode parasites of potato, which include the potato cyst nematodes (Globodera rostochiensis, G. pallida and G. ellingtonae), root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.), false root-knot nematodes (Nacobbus aberrans), root-lesion nematodes (Pratylenchus spp.), stubby-root nematodes (Paratrichodorus ...

Underpopulation in Plant Parasitic Nematodes

Nematologica, 1968
In a pot experiment rates of multiplication of Rotylenchus uniformis (Thorne) on peas were considerably higher and proportions of adults in the final populations considerably lower at high initial densities than at lower ones. Both observations are in agreement with the hypothesis that at very low initial densities the proportions of adult females that

Transcriptomes of Plant-Parasitic Nematodes

2011
Undoubtedly, transcriptomic analysis has contributed significantly to the understanding of the molecular basis of parasitism by plant-parasitic nematodes. In this chapter we will review the contributions by this approach. We will discuss the generation of EST sequences and their characteristics.

Control of Plant Parasitic Nematodes

Nematologica, 1959
