Identifying behavior models for process plants

ETFA2011, 2011
The increasing complexity of today's production systems and the variety of model-based approaches to their monitoring, diagnosis and testing emphasize the importance of the modeling step. Modeling is mostly done manually, in a costly and time-consuming way.

Behavioral plasticity in the sensitive plant, Mimosa

Behavioral Biology, 1972
The leaves of the sensitive plant Mimosa can adapt their closing response to electrical and mechanical stimulation so that they reopen to repeated stimulation. The more intense the stimuli and the longer the intertrial interval, the longer it takes to adapt.

Chromosome behavior in a hypertriploid plant of ryegrass

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1970
A hypertriploid (2n = 22) was detected in the progeny of a desynaptic diploid (2n = 14) plant of perennial ryegrass,Lolium perenne L. The hypertriploid did not differ in morphology from its maternal-sib diploids, but showed larger stomata and pollen.

Is cognition at the root of plant behavior?

Trends in Ecology & Evolution
Information processing underlies the behavior of many species, including plants. However, there remains uncertainty about how plants integrate and use information, and whether this is analogous to animal cognition. We propose a conceptual and experimental framework, Plant Information Processing (PIP), that draws from advances in comparative psychology.
