Wind farms reduce grassland plant community diversity and lead to plant community convergence

open access: yesBMC Ecology and Evolution
Climate warming has become a hot issue of common concern all over the world, and wind energy has become an important clean energy source. Wind farms, usually built in wild lands like grassland, may cause damage to the initial ecosystem and biodiversity ...

TRIM47 Regulates Energy Metabolism via Glycolytic Reprogramming to Drive Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression and Represents an Efficient Therapeutic Target

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies TRIM47 as a key driver of liver cancer progression by promoting glycolysis through ubiquitin‐mediated degradation of the gluconeogenic enzyme FBP1. TRIM47 enhances glucose uptake, lactate and ATP production, and tumor growth and metastasis.

Brandt's vole (Lasiopodomys brandtii) affects the dominant position of three gramineous species by altering defense traits and interspecific competition

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Rodents can cause considerable changes in plant community composition. However, relationships between shifts in species dominance and plant functional traits caused by rodents have seldom been investigated, especially for belowground functional traits ...

Allosteric Modulation of Pathological Ataxin‐3 Aggregation: A Path to Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type‐3 Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers a new allosteric site in the Josephin domain of ataxin‐3 targeted by the molecular tweezer CLR01, which modulates protein aggregation, improves synaptic function in neuronal cells, and delays motor dysfunction in animal models.

Biocatalytic Nanoregulators Restore Joint Redox‐Immune Homeostasis in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stem cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) coat ruthenium‐loaded metal‐organic frameworks (Ru@ZrMOF), creating a targeted therapeutic (Ru@ZrMOF/EVs). This platform scavenges ROS, generates oxygen, and polarizes macrophages from M1 to M2, alleviating inflammation, inhibiting pannus, promoting cartilage repair, and downregulating HIF‐1α ...

Are Plant Functional Types Fit for Purpose?

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
For over 40 years, Plant Functional Types (PFTs) have been used to discretize the ∼400,000 species of terrestrial plants into “similar” classes. Within Earth System Models (ESMs), PFTs simplify terrestrial biosphere modeling in combination with soil ...

Phylogenetic imputation of plant functional trait databases

open access: yesEcography, 2013
Continental‐scale maps of plant functional diversity are a fundamental piece of data of interest to ecosystem modelers and ecologists, yet such maps have been exceedingly hard to generate. The large effort to compile global plant functional trait databases largely for the purpose of mapping and analyzing the spatial distribution of function has ...

Pre‐Encoded IFN‐I Sensitivity Exacerbates Memory T Cell Senescence in Solid Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Type I interferon (IFN‐I) signaling promotes p21‐dependent cell cycle arrest in senescent tumor‐specific memory T cells, resulting in poor proliferative responses and solid tumor regression during cancer vaccination. Conversely, IFNα/β receptor blockade reinvigorates T cell proliferation to regress solid tumors and is more effective with increasing ...

Plant economics spectrum governs leaf nitrogen and phosphorus resorption in subtropical transitional forests

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background Leaf nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) resorption is a fundamental adaptation strategy for plant nutrient conservation. However, the relative roles that environmental factors and plant functional traits play in regulating N and P resorption ...

Response of Plant Leaf Traits to Environmental Factors in Climax Communities at Varying Latitudes in Karst Regions

open access: yesPlants
Exploring the changes in plant functional traits and their relationship with the environment in karst climax communities across different latitudes can enhance our understanding of how these communities respond to environmental gradients.
