Relationships between Plant Architecture Traits and Cotton Yield within the Plant Height Range of 80–120 cm Desired for Mechanical Harvesting in the Yellow River Valley of China

open access: yesAgronomy, 2019
Mechanical harvesting has become inevitable for cotton production in China due to the rising labor cost in the country. It usually requires a moderate plant height and compact plant architecture.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Comparison of growing media for container grown plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Greenhouse and growth chamber experiments are conducted worldwide in efforts to produce solutions that would increase yields of agronomic crops. However, the results of those experiments vary due to the many growth media being used.

Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

Evaluating Plant Brushing as a Strategy for Height Control in Edible Crop Species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Greenhouse growers producing edible crops can encounter specific challenges when optimizing growing conditions. One challenge is soft growth associated with rapid tissue expansion. Soft growth can lead to plants falling over or soft, floppy leaves. These

Acoustic Measures Capture Speech Dysfunction in Spinocerebellar Ataxia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxias (SCA) are hereditary cerebellar degenerative disorders with a common feature of dysarthria, involving impaired phonatory and articulatory control of speech, thereby affecting social communication. In this study, we investigated whether acoustic measures could objectively measure speech dysfunction and identify

Plant height measurement using UAV-based aerial RGB and LiDAR images in soybean

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Phenotypic traits like plant height are crucial in assessing plant growth and physiological performance. Manual plant height measurement is labor and time-intensive, low throughput, and error-prone.

Genetic analyses of agronomic traits in Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum (L.) Gaertn.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The consumption of products made from Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum (L.) Gaertn.) has increased in recent years in Japan. Increased consumer demand has led to recognition of the need for early varieties of this crop with high and stable yields ...

Prediction of Rice Plant Height Using Linear Regression Model by Pyramiding Plant Height-Related Alleles

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences
Although numerous rice plant height-related genes have been cloned and functionally characterized in recent years, a gap between the identified genes and their utilization in breeding still exists. Here, we developed a linear regression model by pyramiding plant height-related alleles to predict rice plant height and confirmed that it can be used in ...
