Agrivoltaic layout types drive changes in raspberry summer microclimate

open access: yesFrontiers in Horticulture
Soft fruit such as raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) are commonly cultivated under protective structures to shield plants from adverse weather and extend harvest periods.

Gibberellic Acid Concentrations and Storage of Caryocar brasiliense (Caryocaraceae) Seeds Propagated in Tubes

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2022
The immersion of seeds in gibberellic acid solutions can promote dormancy breaking. Storage can be dynamic in seed longevity. The objective of this work was to evaluate different concentrations of gibberellic acid applied to seeds isolated from two ...

Sustainable use and conservation of Vitex doniana Sweet: unlocking the propagation ability using stem cuttings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
One of the major constraints for domesticating widely used wild tree resources by local communities is the lack of adequate propagation techniques.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Evaluating Mechanisms of Soil Microbiome Suppression of Striga Infection in Sorghum

open access: yesBio-Protocol
The root parasitic weed Striga hermonthica has a devastating effect on sorghum and other cereal crops in Sub-Saharan Africa. Available Striga management strategies are rarely sufficient or not widely accessible or affordable.

Temporal and spatial transcriptional regulation of phytohormone metabolism during seed development in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
Plant hormones play important roles in seed development; however, transcriptional regulation of their metabolism and levels of the respective bioactive forms during barley seed development is poorly understood.

Characterization of Arabidopsis thaliana CPR5 via the elucidation of interacting protein partners : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Science in Biochemistry at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
he Arabidopsis thaliana Constitutive expresser of pathogenesis related genes5 (CPR5) has previously been suggested to play a role in the regulation of disease resistance, plant and cell proliferation, development and death.

The ubiquitin system and jasmonate signaling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The ubiquitin (Ub) system is involved in most, if not all, biological processes in eukaryotes. The major specificity determinants of this system are the E3 ligases, which bind and ubiquitinate specific sets of proteins and are thereby responsible for ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Molecular mechanisms on ethylene regulation of nutrient deficiency stress responses in plants

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2023
The growth and development of plants require 14 essential mineral nutrient elements, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur, iron, etc. Nevertheless, the bioavailability of these elements varies greatly in the different types of soils.
