The carbon reactions of photosynthesis: role of lectins and glycoregulation
Modulation of glycoregulation in agriculture is reviewed here with emphasis on the elucidation of previously unknown pathways involving vacuolar lectins as well as a bypass of lectins that direct free sugars toward productivity.

Lectins with Potential for Anti-Cancer Therapy
This article reviews lectins of animal and plant origin that induce apoptosis and autophagy of cancer cells and hence possess the potential of being developed into anticancer drugs. Apoptosis-inducing lectins encompass galectins, C-type lectins, annexins,

Quantum Dot Labelling of Tepary Bean (Phaseolus acutifolius) Lectins by Microfluidics
Lectins are bioactive proteins with the ability to recognize cell membrane carbohydrates in a specific way. Diverse plant lectins have shown diagnostic and therapeutic potential against cancer, and their cytotoxicity against transformed cells is mediated

Glycosylation-Dependent Induction of Programmed Cell Death in Murine Adenocarcinoma Cells
Altered surface glycosylation is a major hallmark of tumor cells associated with aggressive phenotype and poor prognosis. By recognizing specific carbohydrate motifs, lectins can be applied to distinguish tumor from healthy cells based on the expression ...

Structural Diversities of Lectins Binding to the Glycosphingolipid Gb3
Glycolipids are present on the surfaces of all living cells and thereby represent targets for many protein receptors, such as lectins. Understanding the interactions between lectins and glycolipids is essential for investigating the functions of lectins ...

Anti-HIV lectins and current delivery strategies
Lectins, a class of carbohydrate binding agents (CBAs), have been widely studied for their potential antiviral activity. In general, lectins exert their anti-HIV microbicidal activity by binding to viral envelope glycoproteins which hinders a proper ...

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.
