Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Understanding the Impact of Plant Nutrition on Plant-Oomycete Interactions

open access: yes, 2022
Plants are surrounded by various threats from the environment such as pathogens, abiotic stresses, and animal attacks. Nutrient content and distribution are essential for plant growth and development as well as plant immunity. Pathogens extract nutrients

A review of the interaction between potassium nutrition and plant disease control

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences & Environment
Potassium (K) is an essential macronutrient involved in many physiological and biochemical functions that affect a plant's susceptibility to disease. These processes include stomatal regulation, enzyme activation, and solute transport, each of which is ...

Nutrition transition and the risk of over-nutrition among female adolescents in Indonesia: analysis of Indonesian family life survey data 2007 and 2014

open access: yesJurnal Gizi Indonesia: The Indonesian Journal of Nutrition
Background: Global changes and urbanisation cause nutrition transition which holds a crucial factor to nutritional status. Nutrition transition manifests in increased access to unhealthy and highly processed food, as well as reduced physical activity ...

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Plant phosphorus availability of pyrolysed pig slurry related to ammonium and nitrate nutrition

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment
Excessive slurry applications in regions with intensive livestock production are overloading soils with phosphates, which can lead to water pollution.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.
