Management of strawberry blossom weevil and European tarnished plant bug in organic strawberry and raspberry using semiochemical traps [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The strawberry blossom weevil (Anthonomus rubi) and the European tarnished plant bug (Lygus rugulipennis) cause large (10 - >80%) losses in yield and quality in organically grown berries.

Systemic suppression of the shoot metabolism upon rice root nematode infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Hirschmanniella oryzae is the most common plant-parasitic nematode in flooded rice cultivation systems. These migratory animals penetrate the plant roots and feed on the root cells, creating large cavities, extensive root necrosis and rotting.

Non‐Destructive Laser Nanopatterning of Superconducting Heterostructures in Topological Sn Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate successful fabrication of high‐quality α‐Sn/β‐Sn planar nanostructures with arbitrary shapes by focused laser irradiation on topological Dirac semimetal α‐Sn thin films. The irradiated regions transform into atomically smooth, superconducting β‐Sn with a critical temperature of 3.7 K.

Comparison between using of nanochitosan and nanostarch as the polymers in pesticide nanoformulations synthesis

open access: yesDiscover Nano
Chitosan, as a natural polysaccharide is considered the main polymer in nanopesticide formulation synthesis. As a result of the high price of chitosan, it’s badly needed to find another polymer that is cheap and at the same time effective.

Reactive Carbide‐Based Synthesis and Microstructure of NASICON Sodium Metal All Solid‐State Electrolyte

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Sodium Metal All‐Solid State Batteries (Na‐ASSBs) are enabled by the synthesis of the solid state electrolyte, NASICON (Na1+xZr2SixP3‐xO12), using carbide‐based precursor compounds (ZrC and SiC); resulting in dense, pure, and mechanically improved microstructure.

Role of photosensitizer in control of mealybug and scale insects (Homoptera: Margarodidae and Diaspididae), in comparison with conventional insecticide

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre
Background Two photosensitizer agents were used: rose bengal and eosin alone and mixed with soap. Two other chemical compounds were used: active cable oil and soap. All these materials were compared with malathion as a conventional insecticide.

Improvement of biological control by volatile plant compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Compared to conventional farming the pest management strategies in organic farming is based on better plant resistance and sustainable cultivation technique that does not destroy the natural enemies of pest insects. Methods that reduce feeding efforts of

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Biochemical characterization of spiromesifen and spirotetramat as lipid synthesis inhibitors on cotton leaf worm, Spodoptera littoralis

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre, 2019
Background Two lipid synthesis inhibitors compounds (spiromesifen SPM and spirotetramat SPT) were used against the second instar larvae of cotton leaf worm, Spodoptera littoralis under laboratory condition. Toxicity of both compounds was tested.
