Temperature-mediated flower size plasticity in Arabidopsis
Summary: Organisms can rapidly mitigate the effects of environmental changes by changing their phenotypes, known as phenotypic plasticity. Yet, little is known about the temperature-mediated plasticity of traits that are directly linked to plant fitness ...

From lignocellulose to plastics: Knowledge transfer on the degradation approaches by fungi [PDF]
In this review, we argue that there is much to be learned by transferring knowledge from research on lignocellulose degradation to that on plastic. Plastic waste accumulates in the environment to hazardous levels, because it is inherently recalcitrant to

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

SLocX: Predicting subcellular localization of Arabidopsis proteins leveraging gene expression data
Despite the growing volume of experimentally validated knowledge about the subcellular localization of plant proteins, a well performing in-silico prediction tool is still a necessity.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The transition of vegetative meristems to a reproductive state followed by floral development and flowering is a complex process regulated by many regulatory pathways that integrate (epi) genetic and environmental factors to guarantee the reproductive ...

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Plant physiology in South America: diagnostics and perspectives
This is a short text about a lecture I gave during the XV Congress of the Argentinian Society of Plant Physiology, in Mar del Plata, in September 2014. In this Opinion, I show some scientometrics of science and plant science that have been performed in ...
