Genetic and Epigenetic Controls of Plant Regeneration

2014
Plants have evolved powerful regeneration abilities to recover from damage. Studies on plant regeneration are of high significance as the underlying mechanisms of plant regeneration are not only linking to the fundamental researches in many fields but also to the development of widely used plant biotechnology.

Plant regeneration fromArabidopsis thaliana protoplasts

Plant Cell Reports, 1990
Arabidopsis thaliana protoplasts, isolated from a cell suspension, regenerated cell walls and then exhibited sustained cell divisions. Within 10 days after isolation as many as 40% of the protoplast-derived cells divided. Protoplast-derived calli exhibited a wide range of developmental responses, including apparent embryogenesis.

Organogenic Plant Regeneration in Bioreactors

1999
Plant micropropagation is as yet encumbered by intensive manual manipulation and requires scaling-up and automation to provide low cost propagation (Aitken-Christie 1991). Scaling-up necessitates liquid media in bioreactors (Preil 1991; Takayama 1991), and measures must be taken to arrest shoot and leaf growth to prevent shoot malformation ...
