Novel and unscrutinized immune entities of the zebrafish gut

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Understudied cells of the zebrafish immune system include bona fide immune cells and epithelial (‐derived) cells with immune functions. Research focusing on zebrafish cells which demonstrate similarities to mammalian immune cell counterparts may help us understand the pathologies in which they are implicated. Currently available and advanced tools make

Reconstruction and Analysis of a Genome-Scale Metabolic Network for Eriocheir Sinensis Hepatopancreas

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
The application of big data in biology has been a hot trend in the research of bioinformatics. High throughput sequencing and large-scale biology network contribute massive valuable data for the complex biology analysis, in which genome-scale metabolic ...

The Receptor-Like Kinase SERK3/BAK1 Is Required for Basal Resistance against the Late Blight Pathogen Phytophthora infestans in Nicotiana benthamiana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND The filamentous oomycete plant pathogen Phytophthora infestans causes late blight, an economically important disease, on members of the nightshade family (Solanaceae), such as the crop plants potato and tomato.

Carbonic anhydrases CA1 and CA4 function in atmospheric CO2-modulated disease resistance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Main conclusion Carbonic anhydrases CA1 and CA4 attenuate plant immunity and can contribute to altered disease resistance levels in response to changing atmospheric CO2 conditions.

Imeglimin attenuates liver fibrosis by inhibiting vesicular ATP release from hepatic stellate cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Imeglimin, at clinically relevant concentrations, inhibits vesicular ATP accumulation and release from hepatic stellate cells, thereby attenuating purinergic signaling and reducing fibrogenic activation. This mechanism reveals a newly identified antifibrotic action of imeglimin beyond glycemic control.

The phylogenetically-related pattern recognition receptors EFR and XA21 recruit similar immune signaling components in monocots and dicots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
During plant immunity, surface-localized pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) recognize pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs). The transfer of PRRs between plant species is a promising strategy for engineering broad-spectrum disease resistance ...

Silencing of ATG2 and ATG7 promotes programmed cell death in wheat via inhibition of autophagy under salt stress

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2021
Salt stress, as an abiotic stress, limits crops production worldwide. Autophagy and programmed cell death (PCD) have been functionally linked to plant adaptation to abiotic stress.

Plant resistance-driven emergence of recombinant begomoviruses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The analysis of plant virus genomes reveals that many were shaped by recombination. However, the history of the emergence dynamics of these recombinants is mostly unknown as well as the underlying evolutionary forces that drove their frequency increase ...

Genome‐Wide Association Mapping of Host‐Plant Resistance to Soybean Aphid

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, 2018
Soybean aphid host‐plant resistance is needed to reduce damage from soybean aphid. Genome‐wide association mapping is effective for finding insect resistance loci.
