Participatory plant breeding in Denmark [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Plant breeding gets more and more concentrated on a couple of multinational companies, and financing plant breeding via the traditional royalty founded certification system exclusive for the specific needs in organic farming is not profitable in most ...

The role of effectors in nonhost resistance to filamentous plant pathogens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In nature, most plants are resistant to a wide range of phytopathogens. However, mechanisms contributing to this so-called nonhost resistance (NHR) are poorly understood.

Validation and characterization of a QTL for adult plant resistance to stripe rust on wheat chromosome arm 6BS (Yr78)

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Genetics, 2017
This study validated one QTL for adult plant resistance to stripe rust, identified donor lines of the resistance allele, and demonstrated that it is different from previously namedYrgenes.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Overexpression of Phosphoserine Aminotransferase (PSAT)-Enhanced Cadmium Resistance and Accumulation in Duckweed (Lemna turionifera 5511)

open access: yesPlants
Cadmium (Cd) hampers plant growth and harms photosynthesis. Glutamate (Glu) responds to Cd stress and activates the Ca2+ signaling pathway in duckweed, emphasizing Glu’s significant role in Cd stress.

Mapping the potential distribution of the schistosomiasis intermediate host Biomphalaria straminea in China

open access: yesGeospatial Health, 2018
Biomphalaria straminea is native to Brazil but has established a population in Guangdong Province China. Its potential of expanding and transmitting Schistosoma mansoni is of great concern. We seek to map S.

How Should Plant Resistance to Herbivores Be Measured?

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
Plant resistance is normally defined as the heritable ability of plants to escape attacking enemies, partially or fully, thus minimizing the amount of damage experienced by the plant (Painter, 1951; Mitchell et al., 2016).

CCT4 promotes tunneling nanotube formation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Tunneling nanotubes (TNTs) are membranous tunnel‐like structures that transport molecules and organelles between cells. They vary in thickness, and thick nanotubes often contain microtubules in addition to actin fibers. We found that cells expressing monomeric CCT4 generate many thick TNTs with tubulin.

Bacterial wilt resistance in tomato, eggplant and pepper : genetic resources challenged with the multifaceted Ralstonia solanacearum species complex : [P3-49] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Bacterial wilt caused by strains belonging to the #Ralstonia solanacearum# species complex inflicts severe economic losses in many crops worldwide. Host resistance remains the most effective control strategy against the bacterial wilt.
