Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

A spatial analysis of physiological changes associated with infection of cotyledons of marrow plants with cucumber mosaic virus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Changes in host primary metabolism associated with the compatible interaction between cucumber mosaic virus and cotyledons of the marrow plant (Cucurbita pepo L.) have been localized, first by measuring activities of key enzymes in infected and ...

In vitro thermotherapy-based methods for plant virus eradication

open access: yesPlant Methods, 2018
Production of virus-free plants is necessary to control viral diseases, import novel cultivars from other countries, exchange breeding materials between countries or regions and preserve plant germplasm.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Application of multivariate analysis to electrical penetration graphs using manual and automate waveform recognization from the planthopper Peregrinus maidis feeding on susceptible and resistant maize [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The stylet penetration activities of Peregrinus maidis (Ashmead) (Homoptera: Delphacidae), vector of Maize mosaic virus (MMV) and Maize stripe virus (MStV) were studied by electrical penetration graphs (DC-EPG) on resistant and susceptible maize inbred ...

Future of cancer immunotherapy using plant virus-based nanoparticles

open access: yesFuture Science OA, 2019
Immunotherapy potentiates a patient’s immune response against some forms of cancer, including malignant tumors. In this Special Report, we have summarized the use of nanoparticles that have been designed for use in cancer immunotherapy with particular ...

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Geminivirus C2 protein represses genes involved in sulphur assimilation and this effect can be counteracted by jasmonate treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Geminiviruses are plant viruses that infect a broad range of crops and cause extensive losses worldwide, having an important economic impact. C2, a multifunctional pathogenicity factor encoded by geminiviruses, has been recently shown to suppress the ...

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Population Analysis of Iranian Potato virus Y Isolates Using Complete Genome Sequence

open access: yesThe Plant Pathology Journal, 2016
In this study, the full-length nucleotide sequences of four Iranian PVY isolates belonging to PVYN strain were determined. The genome of Iranian PVY isolates were 9,703–9,707 nucleotides long encoding all potyviral cistrons including P1, HC-Pro, P3, 6K1,
