Breakthrough Solution for Antimicrobial Resistance Detection: Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy‐based on Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView., 2023
This review discusses the use of Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for detecting antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Various SERS studies used with AI techniques, including machine learning and deep learning, are analyzed for their advantages and limitations.

Heterogeneous virus classification using a functional deep learning model based on transmission electron microscopy images (Preprint) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Viruses are submicroscopic agents that can infect all kinds of lifeforms and use their hosts' living cells to replicate themselves. Despite having some of the simplest genetic structures among all living beings, viruses are highly adaptable, resilient, and given the right conditions, are capable of causing unforeseen complications in their hosts ...

Coalescence 2.0: a multiple branching of recent theoretical developments and their applications [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Population genetics theory has laid the foundations for genomics analyses including the recent burst in genome scans for selection and statistical inference of past demographic events in many prokaryote, animal and plant species. Identifying SNPs under natural selection and underpinning species adaptation relies on disentangling the respective ...

A heterologous expression system for bovine lens transmembrane main intrinsic protein (MIP) in Nicotiana tabacum plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We have developed a heterologous expression system for transmembrane lens main intrinsic protein (MIP) in Nicotiana tabacum plant tissue. A native bovine MIP26 amplicon was subcloned into an expression cassette under the control of a constitutive ...

Characterising resistance to Turnip mosaic virus (TuMV) in Turnip (Brassica rapa rapa) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A Brassica rapa rapa L. line has been identified with high resistance to seven isolates of Turnip mosaic virus (TuMV) (including UK 1, CHN 5, CZE 1, CDN 1, GBR 6, POL 1 and UK 4) representing the major pathotypes of the virus.

UDP‐glucose dehydrogenase variants cause dystroglycanopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract UDP‐glucose dehydrogenase (UGDH) variants have been associated with hypotonia, developmental delay, and epilepsy. We report the first pathologic evidence of dystroglycanopathy in siblings with UGDH variants. Both presented around 6 months with developmental delay and elevated creatinine kinase.
