Drone Services for Plant Water-Status Mapping
2021 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium IGARSS, 2021Achieving an efficient management of agricultural fields is crucial for farmers, considering the challenges posed by water resources sustainability. Monitoring tools allow winemakers to keep their vineyards under control and improve the plants' health with targeted actions, such as irrigations scheduling or specific treatments.

Climate change significantly affects the water status of the soil and plants. Historical analysis of the soil and plant water status showed that it has been a topic of discussion since time immemorial. It was considered important to collect data on plant and soil water characters to explain the relationship of soil moisture and plant water status ...

Carbohydrates and water status in wheat plants under water stress
New Phytologist, 1993SUMMARYChanges in sugar content during water stress and recovery were examined in leaves of two varieties of durum wheat (Triticutn durum). The drought‐resistant Mohamed Ben Bachir (MBB) from Algeria and the drought‐sensitive European variety Capdur differed in the time and type of sugar increase during water stress.

Soil Moisture as Predictor of Plant Water Status
Arboriculture & Urban Forestry, 2021Soil water potential can be used as a proxy for plant available water in irrigation scheduling. This study investigated the relationship between soil water potential and plant water status of pines (Pinus sylvestris L.) planted into two different substrates.

A historical perspective on measurement of soil and plant water status and plant water status
Irrigation Science, 1988Surrounded by many sophisticated instruments, data acquisition systems and connecting computers, contemporary soil and plant scientists may not fully appreciate what really was known in earlier times and how the science has developed. A short review and a few examples of the growth of measurements and ideas are presented here.

Plant water status influences ozone sensitivity of bean plants
Agriculture and Environment, 1982Abstract Studies were conducted in a controlled environment chamber to determine the association between plant water status and ozone sensitivity. Bean plants were subjected to various water stress regimes for 4 to 10 days using a semipermeable membrane system which controlled plant water status and then exposed to ozone.

Demand for water to irrigate crops is increasing due to rising global temperature and population growth, with 70% of fresh water already diverted to irrigation. This is expected to exacerbate water scarcity and increase water stress in many crop production regions.

Carbon and plant water status in relation to water stress of rubber
2004Based on Thailand national policy to expand rubber plantations in northeastern and northern regions, the performance information under drought conditions need to be developed for this specie. Carbon exchange rate and plant water status of two popular commercial clones (RRIM 600 and RRIT 251) under non-water stress and water stress conditions were ...

Water Status in Plants — Methods of Measuring
1973The transpiration flux is envisaged as a catenary process, whereby water moves from the bulk of the soil, through the roots, stems, and leaves of plants to the atmosphere in response to an interplay of potential levels at the various point on the path, and of the resistances along the various segments of this path (Van Den Honert, 1948).
