Effects of Anti-hail Net Transmittance and Installation System on Grapevine (Vitis vinifera L. cv. Malbec) Canopy Microclimate and Water Status

open access: yesRevista de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias
Hailstorms cause substantial economic loss in vineyards worldwide by reducing yield and deteriorating grape quality. Although anti-hail nets are extensively used to prevent hail damage, their effects on canopy microclimate, vine water status ...

An evaluation of the effects of over-production of ABA on whole plant water use, growth and productivity [PDF]

open access: yes
Predicted climate change and increasing global populations suggest that water will become an increasingly scarce and valuable commodity. Breeding plants which produce equivalent yields with reduced water input is therefore vital to sustain and ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Water status diagnosis in greenhouse drip-irrigated tomato and celery using leaf turgor dynamics and machine learning

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
IntroductionAccurate crop water status monitoring is crucial for optimized irrigation in controlled environments, but traditional approaches relying on damaging measurements or sporadic sampling frequently restrict real-time evaluation.MethodsThis study ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Linking plant water status dynamics to yield and fruit cracking in citrus orchards using UAV multi-sensor data and machine learning

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management
Citrus fruit cracking causes substantial yield and economic losses, yet its relationship with plant water status (PWS) and irrigation management remains insufficiently characterized.

The C‐terminal region of KIF26B is indispensable for nephron progenitor condensation and kidney formation in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KIF26B plays an important role in kidney development. We engineered mice lacking the C‐terminal region of KIF26B and found severe kidney defects, including bilateral renal agenesis, similar to full Kif26b knockout mice. The mutation disrupted nephron progenitor condensation and reduced Gdnf‐Wnt11 signaling, showing that the KIF26B C‐terminal region is ...

Mid-Season Yield Estimation in High-Productivity Vineyards: A Preliminary Modeling Framework for Free-Canopy Systems

open access: yesAgronomy
Accurate vineyard yield estimation is essential for harvest planning, resource allocation, and economic decision-making, particularly under conditions of high spatial variability.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.
