HIGH DENSITY PLANTING FOR SWEET CHERRY ORCHARDS
Acta Horticulturae, 2014While a number of training systems are suitable for increasing sweet cherry planting density, the V and vertical axis systems are perhaps best suited to the task. New ideas regarding tree shape include short trees grown using dwarfing rootstocks like the Gisela® series.

Density Determination in Plant Communities
Oikos, 1958In an earlier paper by the former of the present authors (BOCHER, 1935), a modification of Raunkier's method of frequency determination was described. This modification made it possible to evaluate the density of shoots or individuals in plant communities.

Maize COMPACT PLANT 3 regulates plant architecture and facilitates high-density planting
The Plant CellAbstract Compact plant architecture allows more efficient light capture under higher planting density. Thus, it is a crucial strategy for improving crop yield, particularly in maize (Zea mays L.). Here, we isolated a maize gene, COMPACT PLANT 3 (CT3), regulating plant architecture, using map-based cloning.

PLUG PLANT FERTILIZATION AND PLANTING DENSITY AFFECT ONION PRODUCTIVITY IN SICILY
Acta Horticulturae, 2009The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different planting density and different levels of plug plant fertilization on onion production in Sicily. Onion landrace ‘Bisacquino’ was sown in the first week of January 2006 in a unheated greenhouse in polystyrene plug trays.

PLANT-TO-PLANT VARIABILITY OF MAIZE PLANTS GROWN AT DIFFERENT DENSITIES
Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1983Development of plant-to-plant variability in plant height, flowering characteristics and grain yield was studied in two maize (Zea mays L.) hybrids grown over 2 yr at 62 000, 93 000 and 124 000 plants/ha. The purpose of the research was to provide fundamental data on patterns of interplant variability in maize, as a foundation for more applied studies

Plant Density and Soybean Yield
Crop Science, 1988The spacial distribution of plants in a crop community is an important determinant of yield. However, the mechanisms responsible for the observed responses to changing plant density are not well understood. Field experiments utilizing a systematic design that made it possible to evaluate a wide range of plant densities in a single experiment were ...

Applied Statistics, 1970
In investigations into the relationship between mean plant density and crop yield, an inverse power response curve has often been used. In this paper the theoretical properties of a family of these curves are examined, including situations where two or more such relationships are being compared. Methods of fitting these response models are given.

Plant density does not influence every castor plant equally
Industrial Crops and Products, 2017Abstract Castor (Ricinus communis) is an oilseed crop, which oil is used in the chemical industry for several products. There are attempts to adjust the plant density of castor aiming to increase its seed yield. This study discusses how plant density influences seed yield of individual castor plants.

Crop Yield and Planting Density
Annals of Botany, 1983From the established responses of plants to photosynthetic activity and to the availability of nutrients in the soil, a crop yield : planting density response equation is derived with parameters that are of biological significance. The relationship between crop yield, Y (kg m~2) and planting density, p (number of plants m~2), is of considerable ...
