Flow Analysis in Pathological Microvascular Models by Ultrasound Localization Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents a new platform combining ultrasound localization microscopy with biomimetic gelatin phantoms to analyze flow dynamics in small vessels with narrowing or obstructions. Using microbubble tracking, the method enables high‐resolution velocity mapping in 100–500 µm channels, revealing flow changes in pathological microvascular conditions

Psychological stress: Its effect on periodontal status of individuals

open access: yesJournal of Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, 2015
Background: Periodontitis is the inflammation and infection of the tissues that support the teeth. Growing evidence suggests that the psychosocial factors such as stress, depression, and level of social support provoke changes in host defense mechanisms ...

Integrin beta3 regulates clonality and fate of smooth muscle-derived atherosclerotic plaque cells

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Smooth muscle cells (SMCs) play a key role in atherogenesis. However, mechanisms regulating expansion and fate of pre-existing SMCs in atherosclerotic plaques remain poorly defined.

Femoral artery ultrasound examination: a new role in predicting cardiovascular risk [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We compared intima-media thickness (IMT) and the prevalence of plaques in the common carotid artery (CCA) and common femoral artery (CFA) in apparently healthy participants. This multicenter study included 322 participants (59.9% female; age 20-78 years,

Digital Bioassays on the Slipchip Microfluidic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
This review summarizes recent advances in SlipChip‐based digital bioassays, highlighting their simple “load and slip” operation for fluid partitioning which eliminate the need for sophisticated fluidic systems. Applications include digital nucleic acid analysis, digital protein analysis and single‐cell analysis, demonstrating the platform‘s potential ...

Plaque erosion: a new in vivo diagnosis and a potential major shift in the management of patients with acute coronary syndromes.

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal, 2018
Pathology and in vivo imaging studies have identified superficial plaque erosion as a frequent and important mechanism underlying acute coronary syndromes (ACS). In contrast with plaque rupture, the pathophysiological mechanisms leading to plaque erosion

IVIG Delays Onset in a Mouse Model of Gerstmann-Sträussler-Scheinker Disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Our previous studies showed that intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) contained anti-Aβ autoantibodies that might be able to treat Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Pathology of the Vulnerable Plaque

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 2006
The majority of patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) present with unstable angina, acute myocardial infarction, and sudden coronary death. The most common cause of coronary thrombosis is plaque rupture followed by plaque erosion, whereas calcified nodule is infrequent.

A SERS‐Based Antibody‐Aptamer Sandwich Assay for Extracellular Vesicle‐Associated Tau Detection Using Gold Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
Tau protein plays a critical role in the pathology of Alzheimer's disease, utilizing extracellular vesicles (EVs) as a mechanism for intercellular transmission. This study develops a highly sensitive sandwich assay biosensor for detecting and quantifying tau‐associated EVs using surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS).
