Membrane bias effects on plasma-driven permeation of hydrogen through niobium membrane
Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2000Niobium membrane was immersed in hydrogen plasma in order to study its interaction with hydrogen ions in the energy range from a few eV to 200 eV, controlled by changing the membrane bias. Degradation of plasma driven permeation (PDP) and enhancement of permeation driven by thermal molecules of cold gas (GDP) were observed when bias voltage was applied

Hydrogen Isotopes Plasma-Driven Permeation Through Sputter-Deposited Tungsten-Coated F82H
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2018Hydrogen isotopes plasma-driven permeation (PDP) through sputter-deposited tungsten (SP-W)-coated F82H and bare F82H membranes has been investigated using a steady-state linear plasma device VEHICLE-1 in the temperature range of 250 °C–550 °C. SP-W coatings have been found to enhance PDP flux. Deuterium retention has been measured by thermal desorption

Mixed hydrogen isotopes plasma-driven permeation through CLF-1 RAFM steel for ITER HCCB TBM
Nuclear Fusion, 2022Abstract The first wall of the helium-cooled ceramic breeder test blanket module (TBM) will be subjected to charge exchange neutral from the mixed deuterium (D) and tritium (T) deuterium–tritium (D–T) mixture plasma irradiation. To understand the isotope effects on mixed plasma-driven permeation (PDP) through the TBM wall, which is ...

Surface effects on plasma-driven tritium permeation through metals
Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2001The model for the plasma-driven tritium permeation proposed by Doyle and Brice [J. Vac. Sci. Technol. A 5 (4) (1987) 2311] and by Waelbroeck et al. [Forschungazentrum, Julich, Germany, Jul-1996, 1984] has been developed. An improved analytical expression for the plasma-driven tritium permeation in the steady state is presented.

Influence of surface impurities on plasma-driven permeation of deuterium through nickel
Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 1998The plasma-driven permeation behavior of deuterium through nickel membrane was examined in the temperature range from room temperature to 723 K. The modification of its surface impurities by exposing it to the hydrogen plasma was examined with Auger electron spectroscopy. The influence of surface impurities on the penetration and recombination behavior

Development of Plasma Driven Permeation Measurement System for Plasma Facing Materials
2020To study the hydrogen isotopes plasma driven permeation (PDP) behavior in plasma facing materials, a linear Radio Frequency (RF) plasma device has been constructed in the radiation controlled area at Shizuoka University. The deuterium (D) plasma is generated by injecting RF power with the frequency of 13.56 MHz through a copper antenna and confined by ...

Plasma Driven Permeation Through the Nb Membrane at Low Temperature
2000The CW plasma driven superpermeation finds out presence of threshold temperature ~400°C. This phenomenon contacts with the percolation phase transformation on crystallite defects and with β→α phase transformation of diluted hydrogen in Nb.

Gas-driven permeation (GDP) and plasma-driven permeation (PDP) of hydrogen gas through GaInSn/Fe are systematically investigated in this work. The permeation parameters of hydrogen through GaInSn/Fe, including diffusivity, Sieverts’ constant, permeability, and surface recombination coefficient are obtained.

Nonmonotone Temperature Dependence Of Plasma Driven Permeation Through Nb Membrane
2002For the 100 μm and 25 um NB membranes the nonmonotone temperature dependence of plasma driven permeation was observed. The steady state permeation efficiency is inversely proportional to thickness of membrane. It means that permeation efficiency is limited by diffusion.

Analysis of Plasma-Driven Tritium Permeation Through the First Wall of DFLL-TBM in ITER
Plasma Science and Technology, 2009Tritium permeation through the first wall (FW) from the plasma into helium coolant is evaluated for a dual-functional lithium-lead test blanket module (DFLL-TBM). The effect of the surface conditions on the plasma facing and coolant sides, both temperature gradient and beryllium layer clad on the plasma facing side, as well as trapping in defects on ...
