Role of plasma lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase in the metabolism of high density lipoproteins
The role of the plasma lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase reaction in the esterification of the cholesterol of human and baboon plasma high density lipoproteins has been studied.Human plasma was incubated in vitro, and the initial rate of cholesterol ...

Preliminary measurements of plasma density [PDF]
The phase velocity of a microwave signal propagating in a plasma is increased providing that its frequency is much higher than the plasma frequency. It follows that by forming a resonator around the plasma and noting the resonant frequency shift plasma frequency and thus plasma density may be measured.

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

Microwave radiation measurements near the electron plasma frequency of the NASA Lewis bumpy torus plasma [PDF]
Microwave emission near the electron plasma frequency was observed, and its relation to the average electron density and the dc toroidal magnetic field was examined.

We propose a hybrid laser-driven ion acceleration scheme using a combination target of a solid foil and a density-tailored background plasma. In the first stage, a sub-relativistic proton beam can be generated by the radiation pressure acceleration in ...

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Perturbing microwave beams by plasma density fluctuations
The propagation of microwaves across a turbulent plasma density layer is investigated with full-wave simulations. To properly represent a fusion edge-plasma, drift-wave turbulence is considered based on the Hasegawa-Wakatani model.

Effect of plasma inhomogeneity on plasma wakefield acceleration driven by long bunches
Effects of plasma inhomogeneity on self-modulating proton bunches and accelerated electrons were studied numerically. The main effect is the change of the wakefield wavelength which results in phase shifts and loss of accelerated particles.

Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.
