Electrolytic plasma techniques have been used to surface modify 6082 aluminium alloy to a depth of 100 ?m. Potentiodynamic polarisations and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) have been made under static conditions in order to evaluate the corrosion performance of both unsealed and sealed PEO coatings.

Evaluation of micromechanical behaviour of plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) coatings on Ti–6Al–4V
Surface and Coatings Technology, 2010Abstract This paper investigates the micromechanical behaviour and wear properties of coatings on a Ti–6Al–4V alloy generated using the plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) technique. Four different compositions of electrolyte were used: aluminate, phosphate, silicate, and mixed phosphate and silicate. The coatings' composition was characterised using

Wear Protection of Al383/SiO2 Metal Matrix Composites by Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO) Process
SAE International Journal of Materials and Manufacturing, 2010<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Al383/SiO₂ metal matrix composites (MMC) were designed to increase the wear properties of the Al alloy. However, the soft Al matrix was subject to large plastic deformation under high normal load during lubricated sliding wear tests, causing detachment of the reinforced ...

Abstract Impedance technique based on continuous multisinusoidal current perturbation was used to explain degradation process of plasma electrolytic oxidation coatings (PEO) on magnesium alloy. An obtained impedance spectrum was fitted by electrical equivalent circuit to describe properties of conversion layer on magnesium alloy.

DRY SLIDING BEHAVIOUR OF PEO (PLASMA ELECTROLYTIC OXIDATION) TREATED AA 2618/20 % Al2O3P COMPOSITE
2011The present study focuses on the influence of the PEO (Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation) treatment on the tribological behaviour of the AA2618/20 % vol. Al2O3p composite, dry sliding against induction hardened UNI C55 steel. Particle-reinforced Al based composites offer a higher wear resistance by comparison with the corresponding unreinforced alloys ...
