Nurses' Performance Regarding Patients Undergoing Therapeutic Plasma Exchange [PDF]
Background: Therapeutic plasma exchange is a procedure which removes plasma that contains circulating pathogenic substances, such as auto reactive antibodies, immune complexes, paraproteins, lipoproteins, inflammatory mediators like cytokines and return ...

The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

The processes of nonequilibrium exchange in rotating plasma flows
The mechanisms of energy/momentum exchange in rotating and compressing plasma flows have been discussed. It has been shown that such flows are capable of transforming the energy of different degrees of freedom into the energy of one degree owing to the ...

Membrane-based therapeutic plasma exchange in dogs: Prescription, anticoagulation, and metabolic response. [PDF]
BACKGROUND Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) is used increasingly in small animals to remove circulating large molecular products such as antibodies, pathogenic proteins, and protein-bound toxins.

Plasma Exchange in Alzheimer's Disease
Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) has traditionally been used to selectively remove pathologic contents including autoantibodies, abnormal proteins, immune complexes, or toxins from a patient's plasma. In addition to the removal of molecular contributors to disease, fluid replacement and infusion of beneficial plasma constituents including albumin can ...
