Modulation of the plasma flow in plasma wake experiments

Journal of Applied Physics, 1990
Experiments demonstrate that it is possible to determine the characteristics of a plasma flowing past an object by locally modulating the plasma and measuring the resulting equiphase contours of the perturbation downstream. The technique is employed in studies of the wake region behind the object.

Plasma Diffused from External Flowing Plasma

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 2001
The relationship of ion-flux ratio and electric current with plasma flow has been investigated using the one-dimensional particle-in-cell simulation.

Plasma viscosity and cerebral blood flow

American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 2000
We hypothesized that the response of cerebral blood flow (CBF) to changing viscosity would be dependent on “baseline” CBF, with a greater influence of viscosity during high-flow conditions. Plasma viscosity was adjusted to 1.0 or 3.0 cP in rats by exchange transfusion with red blood cells diluted in lactated Ringer solution or with dextran.

Metoclopramide decreases renal plasma flow

Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1986
Intravenous dopamine has been shown to increase renal plasma flow in man. The role of endogenous dopamine in the maintenance of renal plasma flow has not been described. We speculated that if endogenous dopamine activity is important in the maintenance of renal plasma flow, then high doses of a potent dopamine blocking drug such as metoclopramide would

Resonant holography of plasma flow phenomena

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1978
A dye laser, tuned near the Ba ii ion resonance line at 4554 Å and used as a light source for a holographic interferometer, allows ion densities as low as 5×1013 cm−3 to be measured in flowing barium plasmas.

Hydrodynamic flow structures and the QCD plasma

Physical Review D, 1987
In this paper, we derive the quantum, coupled hierarchy of quark transport equations that describe the QCD plasma in the mean-field limit. The color structure of the plasma is included explicitly through non-Abelian interactions, and the dynamical structure of the quark component fully respects gauge covariance.

Weakly ionized plasma in a supersonic plasma flow

Plasma Physics Reports, 2002
The structure of the ion acoustic precursor of a shock wave in a weakly ionized collision-dominated plasma is studied numerically. It is shown that the simultaneous action of the nonlinearity, dispersion, and dissipation leads to the formation of an oscillating profile of the ion density in the precursor.

Plasma Flow Control

2016
Plasma flow control, based on the plasma aerodynamic actuation, is a novel active flow control technique to improve aircrafts’ aerodynamic characteristics and propulsion efficiency. Plasma flow control has drawn considerable attention and been used in boundary layer acceleration, airfoil separation control, forebody separation control, turbine blade ...

Enhanced Raman scattering in a flowing plasma

Optics Letters, 1989
The growth rate for the Raman scattering instability has been found for the case when the plasma flow has a component perpendicular to the wave vector of the pump. Such a configuration allows the pump and the scattered waves to be linearly converted into corresponding longitudinal waves. The linear conversion has a resonant character that results in an

Flows in the TEXTOR SOL and edge plasma

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1992
Poloidal asymmetries in the electron density profiles and limiter diagnostics suggest that poloidal and toroidal flows exist in the SOL and edge plasma of the TEXTOR tokamak. A fast reciprocating probe located at the outer midplane provides profiles of the basic plasma parameters including radial electric field and fluctuation driven transport.
