Instability of the current sheath in plasma focus devices
Physics Letters A, 1984Abstract We suggest a possible explanation to account for the previously observed existence of pressure dependent regimes during the implosion phase of plasma focus devices, in terms of viscous dominated Rayleigh-Taylor instabilities.

The three-phase theory for plasma focus devices
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 1997A simplified theory for preliminary design of plasma focus devices that starts at the breakdown phase is proposed. For best focus, it is shown that the model can be used to predict the values of the inner and outer electrode radius, inner electrode length, gas pressure, and charging voltage that give minimum possible pinch radius.

Parametric studies in a small plasma focus device
IEEE Conference Record - Abstracts. 1996 IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science, 1996Summary form only given. Very high temperature and density plasmas can be produced in modest size plasma focus devices at the kJ level. Apart from basic scientific interests, such plasmas are of fundamental importance in the production of X-rays and particle beams for a wide range of technological applications.

Plasma heating and emission of runaway charged particles in a plasma focus device
EPL (Europhysics Letters), 2016The required experimental E-field across plasma to generate significant runaway electrons and hard X-rays during the pinch phase and the phase with anomalous resistance has been investigated in a dense plasma focus. The plasma voltage and inductance have been measured in a plasma focus with two different anode tip structures.

Final stages of the plasma column evolution in the plasma-focus PF1000 device
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2002A frame high-speed camera was used to visualize the evolution of the final stages of the plasma-focus phenomenon. The frame images were taken with a 1-ns exposure time in visible continuum radiation with a narrow band interference filter. These features of the diagnostic equipment enabled the detailed study of the collapse phase as well as the plasma ...

Preliminary results on the production of short-lived radioisotopes with a Plasma Focus device
Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2005An experimental campaign was conducted to assess the feasibility of short-lived radioisotope (SLR) production within the pulsed discharges of a Plasma Focus (PF) device. This so-called "endogenous production" technique rests on the exploitation of nuclear reactions for the creation of SLR directly within the plasma, rather than on irradiating an ...

Compression of puffing deuterium by neon plasma sheath on plasma focus device
2014 IEEE 41st International Conference on Plasma Sciences (ICOPS) held with 2014 IEEE International Conference on High-Power Particle Beams (BEAMS), 2014The experimental research of fusion DD reaction was provided on the plasma focus device at the current of 2 MA in the approach with the MagLIF conception. The deuterium injected from the gas-puff in the axis of the anode and compressed by neon plasma sheath was studied with the multiframe x-ray and interferometry diagnostics. The total neutron yield at

Production of radioisotopes with a Plasma Focus device
2005In recent years, research conducted in the US and in Italy has demon strated production of radioiso topes in plasma focus de vices, and particularly, on what could be termed “endogenous” production, to wit, production within the plasma it self, as opposed to irradiation of tar gets.

Simulation of Plasma Focus Devices with Hemisphere Electrodes
Journal of Fusion Energy, 2009A magneto-hydrodynamic simulation of a plasma focus device with hemisphere electrodes is constructed. The snowplow model is used with help of the momentum conservation equation to describe the motion of the plasma sheath between the two concentric hemispheres.
