Ion cyclotron waves in the Earth’s magnetotail during CASSINI’s Earth swing-by [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2003
The properties of low frequency magnetotail waves observed during CASSINI’s Earth swing-by are examined. A maximum in the distribution of the waves about half the proton cyclotron frequency and a peak at linear polarisation are found and their ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Interaction of ultra relativistic fireball beam with plasma

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
Ab initio simulations of the propagation in a plasma of a soon to be available relativistic electron–positron beam or fireball beam provide an effective mean for the study of microphysics relevant to astrophysical scenarios.

Microstructure, Thermal Transport, and Dry‐Sliding Tribology of Powder‐Metallurgy Al7075 Composites Reinforced With Sol–Gel‐Derived ZnO–rGO Hybrid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...

On MHD waves, fire-hose and mirror instabilities in anisotropic plasmas [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 2007
Temperature or pressure anisotropies are characteristic of space plasmas, standard magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) model for describing large-scale plasma phenomena however usually assumes isotropic pressure. In this paper we examine the characteristics of MHD

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Kollektive Phänomene im Nichtgleichgewichts-Quark-Gluon-Plasma

open access: yes, 2008
In this work we study the non-equilibrium dynamics of a quark-gluon plasma, as created in heavy-ion collisions. We investigate how big of a role plasma instabilities can play in the isotropization and equilibration of a quark-gluon plasma. In particular,

Observation of ballooning instabilities with medium toroidal mode number in high temperature tokamak plasmas [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
A beta degradation event in a high {beta}p, TFTR tokamak plasma is analyzed with X-ray and electron cyclotron emission (ECE) imaging techniques. Medium-n (toroidal mode number) instabilities with ballooning characteristics are observed near and within ...

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

High-energy dileptons from an anisotropic quark-gluon plasma

open access: yes, 2009
We calculate leading-order dilepton yields from a quark-gluon plasma which has a time-dependent anisotropy in momentum space. Such anisotropies can arise during the earliest stages of quark-gluon plasma evolution due to the rapid longitudinal expansion ...
