Correlation between processing parameters and mechanical properties as a function of substrate polarisation and depth in a nitrided 316 L stainless steel using nanoindentation and scanning force microscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The effects of substrate polarisation in a nitrided 316L stainless steel have been investigated in an attempt to accurately correlate processing parameters with surface mechanical properties.

Molecular Cross‐Linking of MXenes: Tunable Interfaces and Chemiresistive Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, Ti3C2Tx MXenes are initially functionalized using oleylamine ligands to form stable dispersions in an organic solvent. Subsequently ligand exchange with α,ω‐diaminoalkanes enables cross‐linking, along with precise tuning of interfaces. This structural control translates into tunable charge transport and responsive VOC sensing, showing ...

Properties of stainless-steel surface after hollow cathode assisted plasma nitriding

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2020
AISI 304 stainless steel was nitrided at different temperature in the plasma equipment using a new auxiliary device. The proposed hollow cathode auxiliary device improves the plasma density, thereby accelerating the nitriding process.

Effect of nitriding time on the structural evolution and properties of austenitic stainless steel nitrided using high power pulsed DC glow discharge Ar/N2 plasma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A high power pulsed DC glow discharge plasma (HPPGDP) system was employed to perform fast nitriding of AISI 316 austenitic stainless steel in Ar and N2 atmosphere. In-situ optical emission spectroscopy and Infrared pyrometer measurements were used during

Single Solid‐State Ion Channels as Potentiometric Nanosensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single gold nanopores functionalized with mixed self‐assembled monolayers act as solid‐state ion channels for direct, selective potentiometric sensing of inorganic ions (Ag⁺). The design overcomes key miniaturization barriers of conventional ion‐selective electrodes by combining low resistivity with suppressed loss of active components, enabling robust

RF Plasma Nitriding of Titanium.

open access: yesJournal of the Surface Finishing Society of Japan, 1993
RF plasma nitriding of titanium was carried out at different temperatures and electric potentials of the samples, at 1.0-1.3 Torr in mixtures of nitrogen and hydrogen gases. The addition of hydrogen to nitrogen increased the nitriding rate and the hardness of the nitrogen diffusion layer.

A Van der Waals Optoelectronic Synapse with Tunable Positive and Negative Post‐Synaptic Current for Highly Accurate Spiking Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A van der Waals optoelectronic synaptic device based on a ReS2/WSe2 heterostructure and oxygen‐treated h‐BN is presented, which enables both positive and negative PSCs through photocarrier polarity reversal. Bidirectional plasticity arises from gate‐tunable band bending and charge trapping‐induced quasi‐doping.

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Spatiotemporal Plasma–Mediated Laser Fabrication of Ultrahigh‐Aspect‐Ratio Nanochannel Arrays for Vertical Perovskite Nanowire Semiconductor Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A spatiotemporal plasma–mediated laser processing approach is developed to fabricate ultrahigh–aspect ratio nanochannel arrays and corresponding perovskite nanowire arrays within transparent materials for optoelectronics devices. The laser‐fabricated nanochannels serve as templates for controlled perovskite infiltration and crystallization, enabling ...
