Duplex Surface Treatments of Plasma Nitrocarburizing and Plasma Oxidation of SKD 11 Steel

open access: yesJournal of the Korean institute of surface engineering, 2007
Plasma nitrocarburizing and plasma oxidizing treatments were performed to improve the wear and corrosion resistance of SKD 11 steel. Plasma nitrocarburizing was conducted for 12 h at 520℃ in the nitrogen, hydrogen and methane atmosphere to produce the e-Fe₂?₃(N,C) phase.

Effect of Treatment Temperature on the Cyclic Spherical Contact Behavior of Plasma Nitrided and Nitrocarburized AISI 321 Steel [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research
This work studied the cyclic spherical contact behavior of plasma nitrided (N) and nitrocarburized (NC) AISI 321 steel. The temperature and exposition time were 400 and 500 °C for 6 h in each treatment. A superficial hardness between ~10 (NC 400 °C) and ~

Thermochemical Corrosion of Furnace Materials in Atmospheres Containing Ammonia

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, Volume 76, Issue 2, Page 226-239, February 2025.
The present research focuses on determining the long‐term effects of ammonia‐containing atmospheres on the metallic furnace materials AISI 309, AISI 314, Alloy 600, and Alloy 601. The materials studied were exposed to numerous nitriding or nitrocarburizing treatments for more than 10 years to investigate the long‐term effects of repeated contact with ...
