Gas X-pinch: The progress, technology and results

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
The plasma pinch on the basis of a gas jet with special density distribution is described. The gas jet was produced by means of a pulse gas valve with a nozzle that was capable of forming a gas flow with a maximum density in the center of the discharge ...

Type‐2‐Inflammatory‐Diseases Share Comorbidities, Molecular Signatures, IL4/IL13 Genetics, and Response to IL4/IL13 Blockade

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Studies suggest that type 2 inflammatory diseases are driven by overactivation of the IL4/IL13 pathway, manifesting differently in distinct tissues. We performed quantitative analyses using several large independent datasets to explore the interrelation of type 2 inflammatory diseases based on co‐prevalence, genetic predispositions, and transcriptomic ...

Electrode contaminant plasma effects in 10^{7}-A Z pinch accelerators

open access: yesPhysical Review Accelerators and Beams, 2019
The dynamics of electrode heating, sheath flow, and contaminant plasma evolution in Sandia National Laboratories’ high-power Z accelerator is studied in a series of 2D relativistic particle-in-cell simulations.

Application of quantum-statistical methods to studies of thermodynamic and radiative processes in hot dense plasmas

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes, 2019
Calculations of thermodynamic and radiative characteristics of hot dense plasmas within different quantum-statistical approaches, such as the use of the Hartree–Fock–Slater model and the ion model, are presented.

Neurokinin‐1 receptor activation protects against cardiac fibrosis, inflammation and diastolic dysfunction in type 2 diabetic mice

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose The pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)‐induced cardiomyopathy involves cardiac fibrosis that leads to diastolic dysfunction. We established that replacement of lost substance P (SP) that occurs in T2DM reduces cardiac fibrosis and decreases inflammation in T2DM mice and non‐human primates.

Experimental investigation of Z-pinch radiation source for indirect drive inertial confinement fusion

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes, 2019
Z-pinch dynamic hohlraums (ZPDHs) could potentially be used to drive inertial confinement fusion targets. Double- or multishell capsules using the technique of volume ignition could exploit the advantages of ZPDHs while tolerating ...

Delipidisation of wool fibres and the subsequent beneficial properties of delipidised wool fibres

open access: yesColoration Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Wool fibres are complex matrices of proteins and fatty acids/lipids found both internally and externally. 18‐methyleicosanoic acid (18‐MEA) is covalently bound to the surface of the fibre via a thio‐ester link, and is considered one of the most important lipids as it is responsible for the hydrophobic properties of wool fibres.

Epidermoid cyst as differential diagnosis for spherical keratoma: What do we know?

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary This article briefly presents the case of a space‐occupying coronary band mass that raised the question of how one can differentiate between two uncommonly seen but now commonly paired differential diagnoses and prompted a review of the relevant literature.
