PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Effects of plasma squareness on RMP response in MAST-U

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The effect of the squareness of the plasma boundary shape on the plasma response to the applied n  = 2 ( n is the toroidal mode number) resonant magnetic perturbation, and consequently on controlling the edge-localized mode (ELM) in MAST-U in the double ...

Plasma Oxidized W-WOx Sensor for Sub-ppm H2S Detection

open access: yesProceedings, 2017
In this work we have fabricated W-WOx core-shell nanowire structure using plasma oxidation, a CMOS compatible process, for sensing H2S gas. For comparison, the sputtered stack structure of W-WOx with different thickness ratios of W to WOx is fabricated ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Behavior of Plasma Response Field in Detached Plasma

open access: yesPlasma and Fusion Research, 2013
Sustaining a detached plasma is important for the reduction of the heat load on a divertor. The externally controlled methods such as gas puffing in the divertor region, etc. have been studied for maintaining detached plasmas. In the recent LHD experiments, a resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) is utilized to establish the detached plasma, which is ...

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

Non-hydrodynamic response in QCD-like plasma

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Quark-gluon plasma’s (QGP) properties at non-hydrodynamic and non-perturbative regimes remain largely unexplored. Here, we examine the response functions describing how a QGP-like plasma responds to initial energy-momentum disturbance in both static and ...

Effect of Type of Pregnancy on Transcriptional and Plasma Metabolic Response in Sheep and Its Further Effect on Progeny Lambs

open access: yesAnimals, 2020
The following study was performed in order to determine the effect of type of pregnancy on the transcriptional expression of genes that are engaged in angiogenesis and cell turnover/lactogenesis in the ewe mammary gland, evaluating its impact on the ...

Dispersion Relations for Bernstein Waves in a Relativistic Pair Plasma

open access: yes, 2009
A fully relativistic treatment of Bernstein waves in an electron-positron pair plasma has remained too formidable a task owing to the very complex nature of the problem.
