Plasma polarization spectroscopy

open access: yesPlasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 1999
In the density matrix formalism, the ensemble of atoms or ions is expressed in terms of population and alignment of excited levels and the ground state. The population of an excited level determines the intensity of an emission line originating from this level and the alignment gives rise to the linear polarization of this line.

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

The influence of power and frequency on the filamentary behavior of a flowing DBD-application to the splitting of CO2

open access: yes, 2016
In this experimental study, a flowing dielectric barrier discharge operating at atmospheric pressure is used for the splitting of CO2 into O2 and CO. The influence of the applied frequency and plasma power on the microdischarge properties is investigated

Frailty Exacerbates Disability in Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To evaluate frailty in severe progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS) and to investigate the underlying mechanisms. Methods This prospective, cross‐sectional, multicenter study enrolled a late severe PMS group requiring skilled nursing (n = 53) and an age, sex, and disease duration‐matched control PMS group (n = 53).

Defect Detection in Arc-Welding Processes by Means of the Line-to-Continuum Method and Feature Selection

open access: yesSensors, 2009
Plasma optical spectroscopy is widely employed in on-line welding diagnostics. The determination of the plasma electron temperature, which is typically selected as the output monitoring parameter, implies the identification of the atomic emission lines ...

Impurity intrusion in radio-frequency micro-plasma jets operated in ambient air

open access: yes, 2011
Space and time resolved concentrations of helium metastable atoms in an atmospheric pressure radio-frequency micro-plasma jet were measured using tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy.

Atomic layer deposition of aluminum phosphate based on the plasma polymerization of trimethyl phosphate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Aluminum phosphate thin films were deposited by plasma-assisted atomic layer deposition (ALD) using a sequence of trimethyl phosphate (TMP, Me3PO4) plasma, O-2 plasma, and trimethylaluminum (TMA, Me3Al) exposures.

Discovery and Targeted Proteomic Studies Reveal Striatal Markers Validated for Huntington's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Clinical trials for Huntington's disease (HD) enrolling persons before clinical motor diagnosis (CMD) lack validated biomarkers. This study aimed to conduct an unbiased discovery analysis and a targeted examination of proteomic biomarkers scrutinized by clinical validation. Methods Cerebrospinal fluid was obtained from PREDICT‐HD and

A Real-Time Spectroscopic Sensor for Monitoring Laser Welding Processes

open access: yesSensors, 2009
In this paper we report on the development of a sensor for real time monitoring of laser welding processes based on spectroscopic techniques. The system is based on the acquisition of the optical spectra emitted from the laser generated plasma plume and ...

Laser-produced continua for absorption spectroscopy in the VUV and XUV [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Recent work has shown that with appropriate targets, laser-produced plasmas provide clean essentially linefree continua suitable for absorption spectroscopy from 40 to 2000 Å.
