Controllable non-ideal plasmas from photoionized compressed gases

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
Based on a suite of molecular dynamics simulations, we propose a strategy for producing non-ideal plasmas with controllable properties over a wide range of densities between those of ultracold neutral plasmas and those of solid-density plasmas.

Study of radial field dependent flows in inboard limited Aditya-U plasmas using EMC3-Eirene simulations

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The intrinsically generated plasma rotation in magnetically confined tokamak plasmas has implications for a number of edge and core phenomena. In recent Aditya-U tokamak circular plasma discharges with plasma current of range (142–170) kA, the toroidal ...

Evolution of the flux tube instability parameters in plasma injections at saturnian magnetosphere

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences
The evolution of the flux tube stability parameters in plasma injections at the Saturnian magnetosphere is reviewed. Plasma injections result from an imbalance in the centrifugal, total pressure gradient, and magnetic tension forces acting on plasma in ...

The Road not Taken: Less Traveled Roads from the TGN to the Plasma Membrane

open access: yesMembranes, 2015
The trans-Golgi network functions in the distribution of cargo into different transport vesicles that are destined to endosomes, lysosomes and the plasma membrane.

Plasma transport in the magnetotail lobes [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2009
The Earth's magnetosphere is populated by particles originating from the solar wind and the terrestrial ionosphere. A substantial fraction of the plasma from these sources are convected through the magnetotail lobes.

Interhemispheric and longitudinal differences in the ionosphere–thermosphere coupling process during the May 2024 superstorm

open access: yesEarth and Planetary Physics
Geomagnetic storm events have a strong influence on the ionosphere–thermosphere (I-T) coupling system. Analyzing the regional response process of the I-T system and its differences across the northern and southern hemispheres is an important but ...

Simulation study of the influence of E× B drift on tungsten impurity transport in the scrape-off layer

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
Tungsten (W) is used as the plasma-facing material in the divertor region of future fusion reactors, such as ITER; however, its concentration in the core plasma must be maintained at an extremely low level.

Reducing turbulent transport in tokamaks by combining intrinsic rotation and the low momentum diffusivity regime

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Based on the analysis of a large number of high-fidelity nonlinear gyrokinetic simulations, we propose a novel strategy to improve confinement in spherical tokamak plasmas by combining up-down asymmetric flux surface shaping with the Low Momentum ...

Bifurcation phenomena in magnetically confined toroidal plasmas

open access: yesAdvances in Physics: X, 2020
Bifurcation phenomena observed in turbulence and transport, in topology of magnetic field and MHD, and the interplay between turbulence and MHD bifurcation in magnetically confined toroidal plasmas are reviewed.

A new mechanism for internal kink stabilization by plasma flow and anisotropic thermal transport

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
Stability of the internal kink (IK) mode is numerically investigated with inclusion of the anisotropic thermal transport effect and the toroidal plasma flow.
