Turbulent Particle Transport in Magnetized Plasmas

Physical Review Letters, 2003
Particle transport in magnetized plasmas is investigated with a fluid model of drift wave turbulence. An analytical calculation shows that magnetic field curvature and thermodiffusion drive an anomalous pinch. The curvature driven pinch velocity is consistent with the prediction of turbulence equipartition theory.

Electrical Conductivity of a Turbulent Plasma

The Physics of Fluids, 1962
The conductivity of a turbulent plasma parallel to a magnetic field is determined. The plasma is assumed to be homogeneous and the motion of ions is neglected. The ordinary magnetohydrodynamic equations are used. The nonlinear contribution of the product of density and the electric field to the dc conductivity is expressed in terms of the density ...

Turbulence in fluids and plasmas

Chemical Physics, 1982
Abstract A brief discussion is given of possible approaches to developing a theory of turbulent states in plasmas in which there is a considerable energy content in various wave modes.

Introduction to Turbulence in Magnetized Plasmas

2005
Turbulence is a complex manifestation of collective plasma behaviour. An introduction to turbulence with particular emphasis on magnetized plasmas is given. This chapter discusses the theoretical background to a leading edge topic in modern plasma physics it is understood to accompany the section on experimental transport studies (Chap. 9 in Part II).

Plasma turbulent reactors

Annals of Physics, 1977
Abstract Similarity solutions are found for the evolution of the distribution functions of the radiation and relativistic electrons in a plasma turbulent reactor (PTR). These solutions have a “universal” power-law form which is shown to be analogous to the Kolmogorov spectrum for fluid turbulence and stable in the same sense.

Turbulent Plasma Heating.

1979
Abstract : This research involved measurements of plasma heating using electron beams, anomalous dc resistivity, and double layers. In addition, the development of a compact x-ray source is being investigated. An extensive set of measurements of the interactions of an electron beam with a collisionless plasma is summarized.
